Question about Power Generators

Open Question

Weider Rock & Tone exercise machine manual or instructions

Looks like it has never been used, only partially assembled. It's missing the manual and seems to have an excess of parts that may or may not belong with it.

Tip

4 cycle engine runs on partial choke only. Float Bowl Carburetor

Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your local lawn & garden dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

How do I detach motor from generator

This will slide off very easy when you have all of the fasteners out. Look for a snap ring or a spring pin holding the shaft in. Easy to overlook

6bsxs.3422ht No spark and dealer can't identify which coil it uses

It looks like it uses part #492341. I didn't see any other ones listed. It's item number 333 and they call it an armature even though most people, including myself, refer to it as the coil. Here is a link to the engine parts diagram that I found for it.

Spring on recoil starter broke after using generator third time. now mcculloch says recoil starter is not available.have to purchase entire starter housing assembly for $105.00

Generic version of your starter is most likely available from small engine shop. Look for model and type of engine itself. Briggs stratton, honda, etc. model number if engine is usually on starter cover or stamped on block or tag attached. If the recoil part is riveted to housing you may need to either re-rivet or use screws to attach new rewind. Used parts are also available at small engine shops. Just take in the starter housing only for match-up. Good luck
