I suspect you have a screen saver set up that blanks the computer screen after 30 minutes.
If you are running Window XP, right-click your mouse on the desktop, choose Properties, from the Display Properties dialog, click the Screen Saver tab, then in the Wait box, increase the amount of time before the screen saver activates. Click the OK button when you are through.
Good luck,

Put a large font single word onto the screen in a high contrast such as white on black. Get the monitor near a window if possible, and the next time the monitor seems to go off, see if you can still feintly see the image using natural light.
The backlight can be replaced, but it is somtimes so expensive, it's easier to buy a new monitor.
Are you sure that your computer isn't just going into power saving mode? Not sure what operating system you have but go into the screen savers tab or video properties and find out how your system is set up for power saving It may be starting before your screen saver does so the monitor would just go black.
Maybe this is a Screen Saver, set to start after 15 minutes. Open up Control Panel then Appearance and Personalization, then Screen Saver to check on this and perhaps choose a more pleasant screen saver.
hey right click on your desktop.go to properties.in the propertes menu go to screen saver tab.click on the screen saver tab.in the screen saver tab menu you will see a tab called power.click on the power tab.change your settings there for the monitor.let me know if it works.
Sounds like the computer is shutting it down and the monitor is fine. Check for viruses then check your settings in device manager for the screen saver and power down (screen off) options.
right click on the desktop. select properties, Gop to the screen saver tab, click on the power button at the bottom right and check to see if its set to turn off or standby the monitor, turn this off.
Keep the screen saver on and set it for like ten minutes.
Also, on the monitor itself, it may have a sleep or power save option set as the default. check all the monitor settings on the actual moniotr itself.
