Barcode scanner keeps reverting to internal utility
I'm using a MC50 barcode scanner to scan bar codes into a custom application. When I scan the bar code it reverts to the internal scanamp... utility. How can I turn that utility off or set it so the bar code scans directly into the custom app? Thanks.

<p>Reading a bar code in a portable document format (PDF)
document is a simple procedure. Some newer phones come with smart barcode
scanners, and you can scan the Internet to buy. A barcode is a series of lines
of code that identifies a product. When you print the document with a single
piece of technology, you can read a barcode in a PDF document. <br />
<p>1. Open the PDF document. Adobe Reader PDF reader is the
most common. If you do not have Adobe, download the latest version of the
company's website for free download (see Resources). <br />
<p>2. Select "File" drop-down box to the left of
Adobe. Select "Print" and then "OK". <br />
<p>3. Set the bar code scanner. Jumping the gun and a
horizontal red line is designed with the focus of the scanner. Move the line
through the barcode printed on the document until the scanner beeps. Release
the trigger and see the screen on the back of the scanner, which will give you
the information encoded in bar code. <br />
<p>4. Download a barcode scanning application for your smart
phone if you do not want a handheld scanner. Most bar code applications are
free. Open the program and point the camera at the barcode in the PDF. Wait
until the camera for a snapshot of the barcode will not make up the barcode in
the light of the entire camera to take. The program will decode the barcode and
display the results. <br />
<p>Barcodes can be printed symbols encoded information printed
in black and white contain. You can use bar codes entering data into bar code -
the generation of the image software and print barcode using a normal printer
or a barcode printer. Printed bar codes are read by a barcode scanner that
reflected light rays used to decipher the code. Bar codes may contain different
information. You can change or a bar code can be adapted by entering the
information reviewed in the bar code - generation software. <br />
<p>1. Access your favorite browser and go to barcode generator,
barcode, bar code or soft (see Resources) can use a free barcode - generation
software. <br />
<p>2. Most sites that offer bar code - generation software to
present their application interface on their own pages. Enter the information
reviewed or custom code in the space you want, and "Generate Barcode"
button to click to create barcode images. <br />
<p>3. See the image of the barcode displayed on your computer,
click on the image to pop-up menu to display. Click "Save Picture As"
from the pop-up window, select the location where you want to save the image
and click "Save" next window to save the image in the selected
folder. <br />
<p>4. Connect the cable to patch your bar code scanner in its
corresponding port on the back of your computer. Keep the scanner about six
inches from the printed barcode, which focuses on the barcode and press the
button to scan the bar code. Look at the revised data upload to your computer
and check its accuracy. <br />
I know alot of apps for scanners.. but it depends on how and what ur scanning and database ur using. Ill give u a good resource to assist with this,
If further questions ill follow this
The scanner engine/output can be used only by one application. If a second application is trying to access the scanner, while in use. The error message will come.
Please check if there are more applications running in background.
Usual MC9090 applications with scanner drivers are Telnet, Datawedge, Rapid Deployment and custom software.
Exit one of the application or try to exit all of them.
Start your scanning application again, no error should appear now.
If the scanner is connected through USB connection, the barcode should appear in the Notepad. If you use the Serial connection RS232, the Barcode data are showed than in Hyperterminal or other application, which is interpreting data from Serial Port.
Please scan the barcode from Product Guide according to your connection. And check the scanned data in an application - Notepad for Keyboard Wedge or USB, Hyperterminal for RS232.
there are several ways to use the scanner: you can have an application directly with scanner drivers implemented. Or you can install the application DataWedge provided by the manufacturer.
The DataWedge application will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad input to the system. The application is running in background, so you can have your favourite simple application in foreground and scan data directly.
To download the DataWedge application please go to support.symbol.com website and search for DataWedge, or use this direct link http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=12685
What interface? If it is a USB interface the scanner sends the numbers the same as if you had entered them on the keyboard. If you do just enter the barcode (need to know format actually sent to application) numbers does it also respond slow?
Plug the scanner into another PC/laptop, open notepad and scan a barcode, does it scan fast?
The POS application, if it is windows, open notepad and scan the barcode, does it scan faster.
It is likely the POS application that is responding slow.
For the POS applicaton:
- Is scan database local or on the network.
- Have you maintained the scan database? Re-index, compacting, etc
