The problem is not with a "Projection TV", It is a "PROTRON 26" LCD - PLTV-26. JMCARNEY2001

  • JMCarney2001 Jul 29, 2008

It is wall mounted and is well ventilated. What can I do if you are correct and it is overheating.

  • JMCarney2001 Jul 29, 2008

    "PROTRON 26" LCD - PLTV-26.

  • JMCarney2001 Jul 29, 2008

To be very honest, I have no idea what this past expert is talking about. Please, please, make it simple!! Thanks for any help you can give.

  • JMCarney2001 Jul 29, 2008

But please, what is and where is the "power adapter"? Are you talking about the cord that goes from the TV to the outlet?

  • JMCarney2001 Jul 29, 2008

Does anyone know of a TV professional in Ft. Lauderdale that would be able to fix my "PROTRON 26" LCD - PLTV-26.?

Lets start with the simple things first. These sets have small fans built in to aid in air movement and cooling. These earlier models did not have any heat detection hardware other than a shutdown mechanism. I'd look at the fans and verify that they are clear and spinning.

If you are concerned about the power the you should at least try unplugging all connections to the tv, including power, overnight. Then plug everything back in. It takes some time for the tv to reset (usually a few hours). If resetting does not work, then I concur with ginko. You should have a professional look at the tv.

Its power supply may be faulty
The Psu are Just like any Psu using SMPS (chopper), so use normal PSU fault finding techniques
Start with , Any power from secondary of chopper transformer, at the diodes)
usual PSU voltages are 5v,3.3v 12v (the 12v feeds the CCF tubes power generators)
If yes the psu ok, If no check for 320v across mains smoothing capacitor
If 320v ok but no output, check for shorts on the output lines (schottly diodes)

If it happens after some time it is usually a overheating problem.

If it is a traditional rear projection tv, ovrheating problems are usually related with the ballast, you will need to call in a technician to check your tv.

If it is lcd check that the power supply is not overheating and turning off, the tv usually have an internatl termic sensor as well, but a power adapter fault will be an easy fix.
If the tv is connected to a receiver check also that is not the receiver giving a bad signal to tv and forcing it to turn off. To check this start the tv without receiver.

If you are lucky you will fix the problem replacing power adapter, as this is a common problem with protron tvs. You can request replacement calling 1-888-257-8899, they should have part in sock , even if protron customer service is not the best (check here ).
Check also your guaranty terms, if TV is still under warranty call the number printed in the last pages of your owner manual to validate guaranty and have tv repaired.

If it is the power adapter replace it or have it tested and replaced if tv is under guaranty. If it is tv itself you need to have a techician testing your tv board, the external ventilation on tv means nothing, even if you live in Alaska your tv may develop overheating because of a bad component on board, also a bad capacitor or a component shorting out can cause the same.

SPLIT AC CONDENSER TRIPS AFTER 1 OR 2 MINS, ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME

The condensor is not cooling fast enough. Try cleaning the condensor coil. Also check that the fan goes on. At night the outside temperature is cooler and does not need much work to cool down the condensor.

Duo therm mod. 57915 air conditioner seems to work good , runs for 4-5 minutes then kicks breaker , was kicking 30 amp breaker at camp ground , i've been working on connections to make sure its...

Unit may pull as much as 17-18amps when compressor starts up, but level out to 12-15 amps when up and running. Keeping in mind that is all relative to proper 120v incoming voltage, heavy enough wire to run the application etc. If your AC unit needs cleaning , it may draw an extra amp or 2 . With that said, when your at the park, first thing I'd question is their incoming voltage to RV, and try running fridge etc and anything else on propane if possible. The AC alone should not cause 30amp at source breaker to trip, before 15 0r 20 amp breaker in RV that is connected to AC trips. If it doesn't trip your breaker at home, and all is connected same at park, then I certainly would suspect bad breaker or voltage/wiring at park is the cause. P.S. I noticed you said you have 12 gauge wire (rated at 20 amps) connected to a 20amp breaker at panel, but RV is plugged in to a 15amp receptacle, I will assume with a 15 amp adapter from 30 amp plug. Do you see any hazard regarding 15 amp rating on receptacle? ( just a little advice.)

2003 civic temps go up with ac on

Seems like the a/c radiator fan is not working. Either the fan itself is broken, or the power wires that drive it are not connected. The fan is tripped by a/c compressor activity, and goes through a relay unit, which actually trips the voltage that feed this particular fan. You can check fan activity with car parked, and turning on the a/c . if you cant recognize the louder noise of this fan, stick a straw into the fan to check if it is turning. Careful with fingers.

Wii turned on, but no video output

Just spoke to Nintendo Technical support. Seems the rub is in the AC adapter itself.
Need to power down at both ends of the AC adapter--unplug AC adapter from wall output AS WELL AS from back of Wii.
Wait at least two minutes to allow any charge in the adapter itself to dissapate. Plug adapter into wall first, then back into the Wii, making sure your peripherals (eg AV receiver, TV, projector if using) are already on.
Tech support says sometimes you get a partially tripped "fuse" within the AC adapter itself.
This seems to have worked for now--will let the forum know if further problems

Sony TV keeps shutting down ever 5 mins

Could be loose connections on the board where the solder is expanding as it heats up causing a loose connection or something in the power supply or horizontal is over heating and your tv is going into shutdown protection . Good luck
