If the player has other outputs try connecting the player to the tv using one of them, ie: use the A/V output instead of HDMI from the player. If the problem goes away there is something wrong with the input on the tv.

You are probably clipping in that midrange. Since the DVD player is fine and CD player is distorting: they are line level outputs, If you are running those through an equalizer- the equalizer should allow you add in a 10db attenuation.

If you are running them straight to the amp, The CD line level output should be about 1.5 volt peak to peak, it may be the line level input of your amp is only 1 volt and the DVD player simply has that level of output so does not clip..

hi go to start, settings, control panel, click on sound and audio devices. on the volume tab locate properties and click on it. now another box will appear look for cd volume and adujst it whist playing a cd until the sound is less distorted. please rate me if this solves you problem.

The 4600 has PowerDVD to play DVDs (You should have the software CD to install it on the 3000) DVD burning software would be Roxio/Sonic, and you should have that CD too.
If you don't have the CDs, then try download.com to download Free player software and Burning software

yes it sounds like the two STK392-560 Convergence ICs need to be replaced. You can get new ICs with free instructions at the following link.

The factory says that you cannot change the drive from a CD drive to a DVD drive yourself. Although you can physically make the change, they indicate that the motherboard needs to be modified or changed in order to switch from CD to DVD. That's why they get $400 to make the upgrade. They don't provide any parts to do this, either, because I'm sure it wouldn't be a trivial change.

are the dvd and playstation plugged into the correct input. Check the manual thouroughly to see if you can find a solution.

Is the problem just in the playstation? They have a split screen setting for playing with 2 people, maybee the plit screen setting is faulty.
