While HDMI has been a very convenient choice for the consumer, it has also provided better security for the owners of the content that we watch on our TVs. HDMI does what is called a "Security Handshake" between the connected devices. A lot of people have to ensure that their TV is turned on prior to turning on the connected device or the security handshake fails.
Most people overcome the security handshake by using a programmable remote that turns their TV on prior to the connected devices.

it does it wether i turn off the HD box or not its crazy if you turn the TV off to have volume you need to unplug HDMI cable how else do i connect HD box to TV other than HDMI cable? im electronic dumb

Some people have different problems with HDMI security handshakes. I've done some further research for you and it appears there is a firmware update for you TV to help assist with this problem.
