I shouldn't. Check the power nozzle brush to make sure it's clean. Remove thread, hair, etc. that may be wrapped around the brush.
Check the tautness of the belt. If it's too tight it will cause strain on the motor, which will result in this.
Check the ends of the brush. They may need cleaned, or the bearings may need replaced.
I highly recommend taking it to an authorized Filter Queen distrubuter for diagnosis and repair.

My filter queen had problems with power head. It turned out to be the electrical connections in the hose handle wand and power head.
