It seems your laptop Bluetooth could be 1.1 version and headphones are 2.1 it won't work. I would suggest wired headset or get a 2.1 the difference is 1.1 doesn't not allow high quality sound 2.1 does allow stereo sound. here is a sample IOGear USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter GBU421

Bluetooth

When you connect a headset (after pairing you double-click the headset's icon and click the headset service) you will hear a beep on the headset itself. When you "answer" this by clicking the appropriate button then the connection is finally established - only then the sound is routed through Bluetooth.

It seems you are doing this already. But the problem is that this only affects programs that start using sound after the connection is established, or programs that don't keep the sound channel open. I am not sure that MSN does it. You could exit MSN, connect the headset (confirm the sounds are coming through it by using Windows Media Player for example), then start MSN again and see if it makes a difference.

After i paired a bluetooth headset with my Nokia E5, it disconnects / connects every 30 - 45 secs. When I make a call or listen to music when bluetooth is connected the line crackles so much that you...

some units cannot handle blue tooth. Check to make sure yours is blue tooth capable. If it is, check your settings both security and blue tooth to ensure there is no conflict. Also check the headset for compatability ratings. Sometimes that is why there is interference.

How to pair a phone to a blue tooth device?

Instructions

Pair Your Blackberry with a Blue-tooth Headset

Turn on Blue-tooth headset and Blackberry hand-held.

Enable the Blue-tooth radio by going to the options window and clicking on Blue-tooth. Click on Enable Blue-tooth in that window.

Add your Blue-tooth headset to your Blackberry by clicking on Add Device in the Blue-tooth window.

Find and select the name of your Blue-tooth headset from the list that appears. The Blackberry will search for all Blue-tooth devices within range, so other devices might show up on the list.

Click Activate Blue-tooth device if you receive a call and the Blue-tooth headset does not pick up automatically.

Use your Blue-tooth Headset with your Blackberry

Make sure the Blue-tooth radio on your Blackberry is turned on before you try to use your Blue-tooth headset.

Use the voice-dial feature to call contacts if your headset has that capability. Not all headsets support voice dialing, but more of the newer models do.

Press the on/off button on your headset to end a call or use the end button on the hand held.

Tips & Warnings

Pair your Blackberry with any Blue-tooth-enabled device using the same steps as those for connecting a Blue-tooth headset.

Remove your Blue-tooth headset from the list of paired devices on your Blackberry by selecting and clicking on Delete Device in the Bluetooth window.

Configure your Blackberry to connect to a paired Bluetooth headset without asking for authorization in the Bluetooth Device Properties window. That will allow your headset to automatically reconnect even if you take it out of range temporarily.

Only configure a Bluetooth headset to your Blackberry once. Once you configure the pairing between the two devices, the settings are saved and you do not have to repeat the processes each time you use it.

Turn off the Bluetooth radio on your Blackberry when not in use for security reasons.

Adjust volume on your headset or hand-held to a comfortable level. Excess volume from in-the-ear headsets can cause hearing damage.

Unable to use new h500 headset

The H500 is a monaural headset, thus good for phone calls only, not for listening to stereo music. You haven't specified which Motorola phone you own. Check in its user guide if it is able to handle stereo bluetooth headsets (i.e. if it bears the A2DP and AVRCP bluetooth profiles), which are suitable for music streams. If your phone is able to handle them, go to the mall (or store, or even online), buy one set which suits you better, pair them with your phone and enjoy!

Blue tooth adapter and hs850 headset on my computer

Yes, you need the blue tooth driver. The one that comes with your blue tooth "toggle". Although my laptop said "blue tooth compatible" I still needed a toggle. They are fairly cheap to buy and go into a USB port.
