Start up wireless linksystem
I believe that once you make the connections to your modem, you should
be able to log into the router to set it up by opening a web browser
and putting "http://192.168.1.1/" or "http://192.168.0.1/" (without the
quotes) into the address line. The default username and password is
usually "admin" and "admin" or username "admin" with no password. From
there you should be able to configure the router as needed.
In
order to do this, you either need to be able to pick up the wireless
signal (and have the WEP or WPA key if it's already secured), or
connect your computer to the router via Ethernet cable and then take
the steps above.
Lastly, once you're in, check the router's
manual (if you have it), to see what the recommended settings are. The
nice thing is that routers make connecting to the internet easier for
you: then work with the modem to figure out the IP addresses for your
networked computers, as opposed to having to go into your TCP/IP
settings on your computer and having to mess around there.
Let us know if you have any success.
