Question about Apple iPod touch

Battery run time

After a full charge my runtime is at the most 3 hrs! Regardless of what I'm doing on it. Could I have a
defective battery? It is still under warranty. Only had
it a few months and this is the way it's been from the start.

I used this ipod repair guide that shows how to replace the battery on an iPod touch using photos and instructions. The batteries wear out over time, expect about 1.5 years of usage if you recharge your iPod almost every day. Sometimes the batteries have manufacturing defects, in other cases the logic board has an error and drains the battery (ipod touch would get warm, if the latter was the case).

If you are watching many videos, than this is normal. but if you are only looking at pictures or surfing the internet and listening to music your charger is either broken or you have a defective battery. if you have a defective battery, Apple has a 1-yr Warranty on the iPod Touch so you can go to a local apple store and either it fixed or replaced, depending how bad the problem is. here is a link to all the apple store locations. http://store.apple.com/us

Will not turn on.

It's likely your battery is flat. These devices are designed to run only from their internal battery. If the battery is flat, it won't turn on. To charge the battery connect your charging source (USB port or wall charger). Turn the player on with the mechanical swich. Next hold down the play button for more than 4 seconds. The player will turn off and begin to charge. After about 6 hrs the battery will be full and you can use the player.

Sansa Doesnt Charge

You tried everything that could be done. There is an internal component that is defective that will not allow ANY battery to keep a charge. Find out from Sansa if you are still in warranty.

Charging

If it just has a usb cable for charging then yes you would. The charging time varies but it generally shouldn't take longer than 3 hours to fully charge. Check your manual if you have one, it will give you more information.
