PC sudden hang and garbage windows Whats the cause?

Hello, I would like to know whats really the cause of this error!

I just recently turn my pc on for 2-3 hours and download a files, and then I play songs mp3, then I just leave my pc for 5-mins the PC hang! and the song keeps repeating, and with windows desktop garbage display.

I cant seems to understand why is this happening, though it is tested for me for 2 months that this pc has never had a problem.

I actually made some changes on my drivers.

- Uninstall and replaced the cd vga driver to whql nvidia driver to the latest one from nvidia.com
- Uninstall the cd audio driver and replaced with the latest driver from asus
- Just unistall the cool and quite driver because my pc would shutdown when
playing games and cool & quite was then disabled in bios and so as to QFan.

I just dont know whats the cause of this error. Btw, I have a builtin nvidia chipset Geforce 6100-nforce 430 and the WHQL driver I downloaded is 6150SE nforce 430 and thats what I have used recently. Since, when playing movies it actually no problema and playing games but only today when I play mp3 using and download files.

heres my PC specs:
M2N-MX SE plus with builtin A/V/L
AM2 4800+ X2 Dualcore
2 X 1 GB Kingston PC800
Generic 500W PSU and Casing
One intake side panel fan (generic)

Pls help me troubleshoot the problem cause. Thanks

I am only using the onboard video w/c is geforce 6100 nforce 430 chipsets. I already reformat the windows xp and loaded the CD driver that came together the mobo and still no problem.

I just want to know whats the cause, can drivers cause the problem? In nvidia there is no Geforce 6100 nforce 430 BUT there is Geforce6150SE nforce 430 and I already downloaded that thought that its the driver but when I am using it for 2-3 days it hangs and problem occur...but I am not so sure if thats the cause. Pls help me troubleshoot w/c is the problem.

Mobo chipsets or processor is defective?
I already tested the processor and it has no problem. I still dont know if the mobo is the fault. For 2 months of use I never had a problem like this.

Is Mactor Compatible with ASUS M3N78-VM

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/M3N78VM/#support_Download

Please select your windows system.

Try to look here:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system/windows-boots-to-windows-error-recovery/26e60a1d-4790-482a-94b5-f57d0975253b

Try also to install a new harddrive.

Your old HD could have a lot of bad sectors.

This means the windows installation is missing some files, and the pc can not boot properly.

Try also to download the manual, for basic setup in the bios.

Good luck

My pc always shutting down whats the cause?

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1863#dl

Mine did that once; it turned out to be the power settings, in the control panel.

Have you downloaded any files recently?
If you download a bad file that contains a keylogger, it usaully shuts down the pc, it has happend to me.

The problem could also be dust or overheating, lack of ram memory,
harddrive failing, dryed out thermal paste, between the cpu and the coolling element.

Try to scan for virus with this:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

And renew the antivirus program for free:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/security-essentials-download

I recommend not to use more than one antivirus program.

Good luck

All of a sudden my system will hang with nothing function... not even ctrl+alt+del... mouse is also not working... since having no idea, I have to restart it again and again... This will happen...

This sounds more like a hard drive problem than motherboard. Try this FREE program called Mydefrag click the link. This program works different than the std. windows version. It can move files from a dead spot on the HD to a healthy spot and prolong the loss of your stuff. I would suggest you start moving files to another HD keep things you want or need. Hope this helps FixYA up.

Hello gphillips397!
Abit has released an updated BIOS for the IC7-MAX3 motherboard which fixes quite a few issues with your motherboard including one that can cause the system to hang with certain memory modules. The updated BIOS is HERE and instructions for the upgrade are in Appendix G of the User Manual or a general guide is HERE

changing ram is good to make your computer more faster but sometomes it do cause harm, before you change your system was working fine, but you have already upgrade to a higher ram but now you recieve more crashes unlike before, may its time to re install your windows or have it reformated sudden changes in a computer hardware cause these problems this is incompatibility issues between the hardware and software that causes these problems to appear

PC BOOTS HALF WAY

Try booting into safe mode. If it's a driver problem, safe mode will allow you to start Windows with only the bare minimum of hardware and drivers being engaged. To get to safe mode, press the F8 button on your keyboard during the Windows boot process until it takes you to a screen to let you select Normal, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, etc. I would suggest not using anything other than just Safe Mode. From there, uninstall any software or new drivers that you recently installed. Alternatively, you can use the System Restore feature to rollback to a previous restore point.

Memory or mobo problem?

If the memory slots have the same number of pins and fits in the slot provided for that bus type, you can run the memory. But due to the limitations of the hardware, it will only run at its peak Mhz of 533. This could cause a problem for the motherboards bus. I suggest using the recommended memory for the system.
