Normally you can contact the store you purchased the unit at, and if you paid with anything other than cash, they may be able to retrieve your receipt for you.
Once you get the receipt, if you still fall inside your 1year factory warranty, I would suggest contacting Dirt Devil for further assistance. Their contact number is 800-321-1134.
