Re: Pioneer CLD 990 Player
The "no disc" message will show up any time the unit tries to play a disc and fails. This can be because the lens is dirty or the optics have failed. Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, the optics are failing and will need to be replaced.

Hello The laser pickup unit's lens may be dirty or dusty. Just put a lens cleaning disc into the tray, and play it at least three times, by ejecting the disc each time, and reinsert in in to. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town, and won't cost more. If it dose not help you, the laser pickup unit of your RCA device should be replaced with same type and number. OK.
Hello Put it an other good known disc, which the set has played without any problem at all. If it also doesn read it, and displays no disc, the Laser Picku unit of your set has damaged. Put in a lens cleaning disc into the player, and play it for at least three times. If the fault is due to accumulation of dust or durt, the cleaning disc will clean it, and your set will be OK. If not repalce the Laser Picku Unit, sith same type and number. The lens cleanig disc can be bought from most of the electronic sparpart selling shops at your town, and won't cost more. OK.
Hello If it does not play the cleaner disc, just inspect whether the disc inserted in spins inside it. You can check this by open the upper cover of the player, and inserting a disc into it. If inserted disc spins inside, and the player won't read it, the fault is with its laser pickup unit, and it should be replaced with same type and number. If the disc dos not spins, the fault is with the sled motor [the motor that spins the inserted disc], has damaged, and should be replaced. OK.
Run a "Laser Lens Cleaner" thru the unit a couple times. Use one that takes fluid, you can find them at just about any retail store for 15-20. If that doesn't solve it, it needs to be repaired. At that point weigh the cost over replacement. A new transport usually will cost 100-150 on average for parts and labor. Hope this helps
