Question about Vizio P50HDTV10A 50 in. Plasma HDTV
Vizio P50HDM - Big Bang! Got my picture back by replacing y and z
boards but now it's blinking/flashing - brief blackout about once a second.
I had this problem with my P50 vizio when i started to use a new digital cable box from cox. i had them send me a hdmi cable box and had the problem not as offten, (meaning the T.V. Flickering on and off). i unpluged the t.v. for about 5 mins. turned it on went to menu and down to master reset option under advance settings. and had not had a problem for a year. then today my t.v. powers up and picture trys to come on and then nothing just blank screen, but have power light.

Depending on where you got your boards from and if they were a matched pair, other than swapping out a board, there are a few other things that need to be done.
There are quite a few voltages that go to the z zus and y sus boards.. If you are getting a flashing picture, one of the volts is probably not setup correctly for your panal. There are VS, VC, SCAN, VE, Vsus, and etc... The back of your panal has a sticker that will tell all the voltages for the panal. Check the voltages and adjust to correct spec and some fine tuning is also needed, those volts are just a starting point.

There are two additional Y Sustainer supporting Boards called the Upper and Lower Y Boards in the P50HDM that can also be replaced at the time of the Z and Y Replacement. There part numbers are: 6871QDH088A and 6871QDH089A. Although some techies prefer to replace them at the same time as the main Z & Y Boards you won't know if they are the problem unless you still have problems after the Z &Y are replaced at the same time. Since these are much cheaper than the Z & Y (about $50 each) that should take care of the blinking.
It sounds like you don't have the dreaded problem of busted panels otherwise you wouldn't have a picture at all. these boards are actually pretty cheap unlike the Z and Y which are a bit more expensive. It’s also popular to add two additional CPU fans to the unit for additional cooling. Apparently the POD (Pop of Death) has something to do with the main Z and Y overheating. To add additional CPU Fans, which are also pretty cheap, you’ll need a 3 Pin Y-Splitter (M-F) for the extra plugs to connect to the additional fans but be sure to purchase a super quiet fans since the additional fans will be running along with the two 5 inch super quiet fans that came with the unit.
