Very slow operation, misleading info. re. colour cartridge

Self test report took 15 minutes plus.

Printer tells me that I am using the wrong cartridge - I have been using a 343 which is the type shown on the back of the Basics Guide and I have used it for some time

If this is refilled cart you need to clean the copper contacts with dry tissue paper and then insert back if you get the same error and then try to new cart from the company..

Good luck..

I want to print a configiration page from my hp office jet 5610 all in one printer

If you want a snapshot of how the printer is configured and a quick self test, to the following from the front panel of the 5610.

1. hit the "Setup" button.
2. hit the right arrow to "Print Reports"
3. hit the "ok" button
4. hit the right arrow to "Self Test"
5. hit the "ok" button

The printer will then print a report that tells you the series and model number as well as the serial number, Service ID, LIU type, Country/Region, The active I/O connection, all of your cartridge alignment settings then display color bands for all your cartridges. It also tells how many pages your printer has printed (I am up to 2,068 on the cartridges that I reload myself) as well as the firmware version.

Good luck and hope this helps. -Dan

My HP 5610 is printing extremely slow.

Very simple solution: The cartridges still have ink in them but printing is very slow. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a wet paper towel and wipe the print head on each one until the ink flows from each head. Usually it is the color cartridge because it is used less than the black one. Once ink is flowing again, reinsert the cartridges into the printer and your normal printing speed will return. This worked for me, no thanks to the "experts" or trouble shooting guides..

I need your help my printer quit printing, I was low on ink and it quit printing after I printed a page. I changed cartridges and it still would not print, so I swapped cartridges with a different printer...

So it prints the self test (test page) or not?

If nothing is printing from at all (printer moves likes it is printing when in operation, but no ink hitting paper) there may be a blockage on the jets or the information is not getting to the printer properly if these same cartridges work on another printer.

I would lift lid and carefully check each one and wipe with a thin cloth the remove any clotted ink and dirt.

You have already reinstalled the drivers, but I would get the latest ones you can from www.hp.com

Finally I would cold reset the printer - usually holding the go button pressed in while hitting the power button on and off - will reset rthe calibration and give you a better chance of fixing.

Also if you have the cartridges for the wrong model, they may physically fit in, but the chip on the cart will tell the printer theres a problem and won;t print.

Summary:

- Check cartridges - off the top of my head (please check!) you should be using HP 45 for Black and HP 68 for Colour (if using a different brand, fine but the numbers are thee same)
- Download latest drivers
- Cold reset printer and install again

Good Luck

Try printing a manual self-test page:

1. Press and hold Cancel on the control panel.
2. While holding Cancel, press Start Copy Color.

This report provides useful information about your print cartridges, including status information. If the self-test report shows a problem, clean the print cartridges.

Ink

Normally when you install the print software you install HP Director or solution centre software that has a estimated ink staus monitor..from user manual

Check the estimated ink levels You can easily check the ink supply level to determine how soon you might need to replace a print cartridge. The ink supply level shows an estimate of the amount of ink remaining in the print cartridges. Tip You can also print a self-test report to see if your print cartridges might need to be replaced. For more information, see Print a self-test report. To check the ink levels from the HP Director (Windows) 1. In the HP Director (or HP Solution Center), click Settings, point to Print Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox. Note You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Services tab, and then click Service this device. 2. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink levels for the print cartridges appear. To check the ink levels from the HP Image Zone software (Mac) 1. In the HP Director (OS 9) or HP Image Zone (OS X), choose Settings, and then choose Maintain Printer. 2. If the Select Printer dialog box appears, select your HP All-in-One, and then click Utilities. 3. From the pop-up menu, choose Ink Level. The estimated ink levels for the print cartridges appear.

Print a self-test report If you are experiencing problems with printing, print a self-test report before you replace the print cartridges. This report provides useful information on several aspects of your device, including your print cartridges.
Load letter, A4, or legal unused plain white paper into the paper tray.

Press and hold the Cancel / Resume button and then press the Start Copy Color button
The HP All-in-One prints a self-test report, which might indicate the source of the printing problem.

Slow Printing

Hi, The slow printing issue can occure even if the cartridges are out or low in ink try to check the print function by the stand alone unit by printing a self test page Here are the steps to print a self test page: On the front panel of the product, press Menu (or Setup) . Press the Right Arrow until Print Reports displays, and then press Enter, Start, or OK . Press the Right Arrow until Self-Test Report displays, and then press Enter, Start, or OK . If the self test page takes less time to print and if all the color blocks and black block print fine the ink level are fine. if the time for self test is also more try to clean the cartridge contacts and replace the cartridges if needed this will fix the issue. If the printer works fine as stand alone self test and copy try to performe the steps in the below webpage: ========== http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00093466&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=2512010&rule=10185&lang=en ========== If the issue is still un fixed try to set the print directly settings in the printer properties Click on start >> control panel >> printer and faxes >> there look for the HP printer icon with the check mark and right click on it and select properties and then click on advance tab and under it select the print directly to printer and click on apply and ok to save the settings. Once done try to print and check with the issue. Hope this will fix the issue. Regards, Barret.
