Hp dv2000 with vista

My hp dv2000 laptop with vista the keyboard has suddenly stopped working and the mouse wont work either HELP!

Power off and power back on your computer if you haven't done so. Sorry I have ask. Try USB mouse and keybaord and see if that work.

My first guess is it could be the batteries. Have you tried changing it?

Try to completely shutdown your computer when you connect it and turn your laptop back on once the pc is already booted back up switch on the mouse...

Keyboard wont work.

i had the same problem and called hp i was told to turn off my notebook and unplug the charger from the notebook take the battery off and hold down the power button for 30 seconds then reattach everything my keyboard started working again. i was told this happens because i donot let the battery die on my laptop or i keep it plugged in all the time which is true the notebook has to much static and the keyboard stops working. hope this helps

Okay, try this.

(a) Assuming your touchpad is still not working, grab an external mouse and plug it in. That will work just as well.
(b) Assuming you already restored your PC to factory condition and it's working, then go to

HP dv2000 USB mouse freeze when switching users without logging off

I have solved this problem.
Disable the HPQWMIEX.EXE service (either from msconfig or from services tab).
I had exactly the same problem - HP support didn't have a clue!!!!!
