As long as you have a power indicator we know the standby voltage is there, next thing to test is the PSON voltage, it should be from half to the same voltage as the standby reading, if that is ok then the main board is working and you need a new power board...good luck!!
GOT SAME PROBLEM NOW IS THERE A FUSE WHERE POWER CORD PLUGS INTO THE SET ON THE BACK MINE HAS A GLASS FUSE NEXT TO THE PRONGS THAT COME FROM TV YOU HAVE TO USE A SCREW DRIVER TO POP IT OUT SHOWS A PIC OF IT IF YOU DON'T SEE IT DON'T TRY TO POP IT OUT
I bought one also from ALDI for my son's Xbox 360, it is only 3 weeks in use and I have the same problem. The red led is on, indicating that it is in standby mode and recieving power but I can't turn it on either by pressing the power on button on the TV it's self or the on button on the remote. This started happening a few days ago and it's totally random. I found that if you unplug the TV from the power point or alternatively switch off the power point for a minute, than power it on again it will "WORK AGAIN" for a while. Like I said it is random, eventually it will return to the not being able to be switched on state at which time you will have to repeat the process. So thus, this is not really a solution. I am about to return the TV for a refund, and it's a shame because otherwise it's not too bad. and looks OK too.
Try manually pressing the power/standby button on the tv (side or bottom) the red light should appear, most modern tv's will turn on simply by pressing the channel up or down on the tv itself.. But unfortunately in most cases, this seems to be an internal surge and needs a professional to inspect..
Here's a link to the service manual for a slightly larger LG LCD TV. Perhaps it may be of some help? The troubleshooting section appears to be the same for many models of LG TVs...
Power failures can cause all types of problems, have you firstly checked the fuse in the mains plug? If that is ok then it may have blown an internal fuse in the power supply board, these are there to protect the rest of the circuit from power surges.
This set has a power supply and signal PCB.
Since the indicator light is blinking, I would consider the problem to be a missing voltage from the power supply.
Unplugging the set for a couple minutes may solve the problem. If not the set may still be under warranty.

Hope this helps.
