Monitor out of range when a game is booted up

HI all im new here so here it is... I have this compaq mv540 monitor and a new compaq computer. i have win.vista home basic. my system model is SR511ONX. AMD athalon 64 processor 3800+ 2.40ghz. i have 2046 in ram. my system type is a 32 bit operating system. MY video card is an nvidia fx 8600 or 8800 i forget.

I play Warcraft III the frozen throne and it starts up fine but when it goes to the main menu of the game my monitor goes black and an error message appears on my monitor says "out of range set resolution lower or use monitor guide". I have no idea why this happens as i tried another monitor and i didnt get an error message but the screen went black none the less and i could not see anything. I have tried to run the game in 640X480 screen reso but same msg applies also i tried setting reso from video card from 1024X768 to 800X600 ( these are the only two resos i can choose)

my other computer i have has xp and the game runs fine and i have read mix reviews before that some ppl have problems with this game and vista but so far from what i have read i have not read anything about a monitor problem for this game.

ANy help wil be much appreciated ty.

Yep we have the same problem with my AOC 771S. I recently bought this monitor and
everytime I play a game at 640resolution, it can't display the game
right. Only at 800X600 resolution or higher can it display video games
correctly. This is a huge problem with games that my PC can't run at
higher resolutions. Total letdown. Now I have to save for a new gaming
    rig. Tut.

The maximum resolution for the MV540 is 1024X768 @60Hz refresh. The other monitor isn't giving you an error message because not all monitors have that feature, but both the monitors are unable to display whatever data the computer is sending. If the display is normal until you start the game, then the game itself is setting the resolution to something out of the monitors' range. You'd need to set the game up to play at a setting the monitors could handle. I've never played WoW so I have no idea if the game offers a way of selecting the resolution. The game may simply require more graphics capability than your monitor can provide. Most systems now are using 17 or 19-inch flat screens or CRT's, and they offer more resolution and refresh rate options.

Tip

I have found that this tip worked for my Compaq MV540 - press the diamind button...

The discoloration problem is due to the near by magnetic field appliances like speakers which are very near to monitors ...
so what you have to do is just keep some distance to the monitor from the speakers and other magnetic appliances and then press menu button & just give degauss..

Compaq mv540 monitor does not come on when i turn the computer on. the green on line turns orange

in a technical language you can say its a display problem. the monitor is fine.its actually the problem inside the pc.either some connections are loose or the ram memory needs to be cleaned or some part is gone faulty which needs to be checked.if any of this happens the display wont come.check all the above possibilities to reach the cause and solve the problem. please do rate the solution, thanks.

Microphone does not seem to be working

The microphone connector is on the rear of the monitor, and you need to connect it to your computer's microphone input jack. The cable is the same kind you would use to connect the audio output jack to the input on a set of computer speakers. Once the microphone is plugged in it works just like any standard microphone. No special drivers are needed for the monitor, but you do need to be sure that the proper drivers for your computer's sound devices have been installed.

If this solution has been what you needed, please take a moment to rate it. Thanks for asking here!

Input Signal Out of Range

I have been having the same problem with my hpvs17 monitor when i start to use my web browser on linux distros. Now, for the next few days i am going to try my system on a regular crt monitor. if the monitor does not crash, than i will have to say that the hpvs17 monitor has a defect. It seems that when i go online, while i am in the middle of searching something, the monitor just shuts off and i get "input signal out of range".

Monitor problem

If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. May need to check the caps in the G-2 supply circuit. Also you may have a CRT going flakey. Just a slight G2 level adjustment may suffice also. Good luck
