How do I adjust the HD quality for a crisper picture? I have tried Magic Focus, but need to know where the sharpness or contrast can be tweeked .

The magic focus function is to electronically align the red, green and blue beams. So all it can cure is colored ghosts. The contrast, brightness and sharpness adjustments are in the customer menu settings. With the remote just push menu and select video or picture adjustments. Those adjustments are in there.

Hazy, washed out picture on Magnavox 51mp6100d

Remove back see if you can get to tubes top lenses clean all 3 from dirt/dust/ After cleaning off lenses there is a black control box has 3 controls on top 3 on bottom these are to adjust each tube R-G-B Tubes screen/ focus adjust one tube at a time--- Like to adjust red turn g,b.screen drive off turn red up adjust focus to a clear picture ,then green same and blue If you turn screen up to much it will either shut off or you will see Drive lines adjust back down.OK after doing this turn color off in menu adjust all 3 screen controls untill you have Black and white picture try to adjust as close as you can to get bl/wt picture when that is done now turn color on and you should have alot better picture.

Adjust picture

If it's a Magnavox, That's what your post is under, then good chance the picture tubes are getting a fungus growing inside the blue and green tubes. The sharpness will be lost as well. Need the tubes cleaned inside and then new fluid replaced. Take a minute to search 51MP392H magnavox, I answered this problem several times the past few days.

Adjust picture tubes

If all 3 crt's were replaced it sounds like something was not reassembled properly. There is a chance that the mech. focus on the crt lens need to be adjusted, or the mirror is not in the right position or it is possible that the convergence is not properly aligned. If you can send me a digital picture to: lap9728@msn.com I can probably give you more info.

Mitsubishi VS-6041- picture brightness not very bright

Hi Dawn,
The TV does have a screen control on each of the picture tubes ( there are 3 ) although I do suggest you have a qualified technician make the necessary adjustments as an improper adjustment can cause damage to the set. Should you deside to make these adjustments yourself, you'll need to remove the back ( or front in some sets) ( PRE-CAUTION, UNPLUG THE SET FROM THE WALL BEFORE PREFORMING ANY ADJUSTMENTS INSIDE THE SET ) The screen adjustments are located either on the bottom of each tube or in a group component located where the main High Voltage Wire ( large red wire from the black transformer on the deflection board ) is connected to. Look for a turn pot ( screw type adjustment ) that is marked SCREEN. When you locate it ( whether it be on each tube or in the group component ) turn it up only slightly and not to much, as excessive gain ( turning it up to much ) may cause the TV to shut down. When you have the proper brightness ( when it looks good to you ) close the set up and enjoy the renewed picture. Good luck and I do hope this has helped in some way

*** I have to configure Colors with each power on. ***

The six controls you appear to be adjusting are the screen and focus controls for each of the three picture tubes. These usually only have to be adjusted as each picture tube ages or when replaced. You may either have a defective "focus block" i.e. the black box you have been adjusting, or the CRT's themselves may be going bad at this age. You will probably be money ahead to just replace the TV with a new HDTV set. At 13 years old, it shouldn't have much life left in it anyhow.
