This is just a rough attempt at helping you with your problem but if your on wireless and its a built in modem then maybe the modem is not connected right and not communicating with your computer.

Can't conect to internet with my dsl modem

Check to see if you already have a PCI card installed, its common to buy one from a store or a private person and the on-board card does not work and a PCI card installed, check the back of the PC to see if there is a 2nd NIC port avail. and before you go spending money on another PCI card check your device manager to ensure your are not having driver issues. in closing, check your network cables as well and make sure they are all securly plugged in on both ends.

Tip

My Internet connection so slow?

The type of Internet connection you use is the most important factor in determining your connection speed. The three most common ways to connect to the Internet from home are dial-up, DSL, and cable. If you have a choice, cable is usually the fastest, but both DSL and cable are faster than dial-up.

Many Internet providers also offer Fiber Optic Service (FiOS), which connects to the Internet using light over an optical network. In your home, you still connect your computer through copper wiring. The advantage of FiOS is that it can provide higher speeds than traditional copper wire connections such as DSL or cable. Some Internet providers offer multiple options, depending on the area you are in. More populated areas are more likely to have FiOS available. Check with your phone company or Internet provider for more information.

If you use a dial-up connection, there are a couple of good ways to optimize your Internet speed. First, use the fastest modem you can. The fastest modem you can use will send and receive information at a rate of 56 kilobits per second (Kbps). You won't get a full 56 Kbps speed most of the time, but with a good phone line, you should approach at least 45-50 Kbps.

Second, make sure that your phone line is in good condition. If the telephone wiring in your home or business is old or deteriorating, you might be picking up stray signals or cross talk from other phone lines. These problems will slow your Internet connection because the modem will have to send the same information over and over until it's transmitted without interruption. Check your telephone wires to be sure they aren't damaged, frayed, or twisted around power or other telephone cables. If you notice crackling in your phones, you might want to contact your phone provider to have them check the lines inside and outside your home to make sure they are in good condition.
Internet continually dropping out

There are many things that can be causing this. Like; wired/wireless, if wireless how far away from your access point or router is your pc or you may need another access point for a stronger signal. Also try moving your pc when you loose your signal. Just a little repositioning might grab a stronger signal. Your modem: Try unplugging it when this happens wait for about 1 min then plug back in. You may be in an area that's causes "bottle necking" a term used for clogged internet signals. This usually happens during weekends and peak internet usage hours. This would be a job for your internet provider. There is also a reset on your modem. If unplugging doesn't do it after all the lights have come back on and the internet light stops blinking, look for a very small hole somewhere on your modem (not router). Get an object small enough to fit into it and strong enough to add pressure. Tooth picks won't work! Now push it in (while turned on) and hold it until all the lights go off. It may seem like it takes forever, just be patient. Once all the lights go out let go of the reset; wait again for all the lights to come back on & internet light to stop blinking.
If still same problem could possibly be your ethernet/wireless card going bad but they just kind of either work or they don't.
Start keeping tract of the times/days this happens and how long your internet is down. I'd do this for 1-2 days then call your internet provider. Theres one catch with them tho, they can't see your problem or diagnose it on their end unless your down at the time you call them. You may just need another modem. But keep on them if you come to this step. They like to say "ok your good now - bye" and then you'll have the same problem again. If this happens demand a new modem. It's free...

Hello,

I found this information on another site, but it may help.

Go into your airport utility and up at the top hit internet. Go to the DHCP and look at the DHCP lease. Mine was set up for one hour. I just set it up for 365 Days. So that means, in theory, I should stay connected and I would have to hit that Renew DHCP lease once a year. :-)
It has worked fine ever since.

Belkin Wireless Modem Router problem

well, first of all the i also have the N1 belkin wireless modem router, in order for it to connect, there has to be a wireless connection in your area for you to connect to, if any of your neighbors so have wireless you can connect to their network, but if you are not getting a conection that means no one around you has wireless or lan, the belkin wireless is not a internet provider it just extends the distance of your internal wireless. some networks may be secured as well, sometimes you can only connect to unsecured networks unless you have the name and passcode for the secured network.

Internet connection

start your machine and go to hyper terminal.START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATIONS in here type your server's phone number. if your modem is working it will try to connect with hyper terminal and if a connection is made, will ask you for your password. this will verify that the modem is ok. if this works, then re-install your modem's drivers and reconfigure new internet connection.
