Question about GE Security Simon 3 Wireless Home Security System

Simon 3 Wrong Voice Prompts...

Wondering if this is an issue of a slowly dying system battery.

Simon 3 system/alarm.com with a decent amount of wireless and hardwired sensors.

The voice prompts are going nuts. Case in point, you open the garage door it will say random things like "Door Motion Zone 1 Open", "Open Time 300". It used to say "Garage Door Sensor 1 open"/etc. Even the time is wacked out when you hit the system status button.

I did reset the time a few months back and it went back to "normal" for a few days then began this craziness again. It reports correctly in the logs on alarm.com/etc, just the voice prompts are messed up.

Anyone?

Check both the batterys voltage and that of the transformer for the corect voltages. a good 12 volt battery should read above 13 volts also check the charging voltage to your battiery by disconnecting one leg of the battery and see what you read across the read and black leads. it sounds like a power problem.

GE Simon says that the smoke alarm has a low battery. Replaced the batteries, and still receive the same alert. ???

I know some of this sounds obvious but the problem is usally related to 1 of 3 things.

1 Battery oreintation is wrong
2 Replacement batteries were old and were already below the low battery threshold (1.35 volts per battery/ 2.7 volts combined)
3 Didn't use the correct battery - manufacturer recommends lithium batteries (quality alkilines will work but they will have a shorter life)

Beyond this I will need more information to diagnose the issue.

I have the Simon 3 security system with one motion detector installed. I didn't set this system up but would like to add another motion detector and was wondering how hard this is to program it into the...

I don't of any system that is simpler to add a device to. The process is in the manual and is something like press "add" on the panel, follow some prompts and press a button on the rear of the motion sensor. Pretty easy if you dont have keypad phobia. Electronic version of the manual is at this location (adding a sensor starts on page 18).

I can get the cell back up to work on my simon 3

The vell module is not like a cell phone. It is specifically set up to go to the alarm.com network. You need to have an alarm company involved. Alarm.com can send you e-mail or tect messages if you have a smartphone, but you are going to be about $25-$30 per month to get that service.

Low Battery warning on Simon 3 even when I changed it out

temperature affects batteries. if the batteries on the window sensors have been in use for some time it is probably time to change them. Alarm batteries are only expected to last 3 to 5 years with moderate use. If you have close neighbors or live in an apartment complex then false reads could be a factor.
