    I dont know how to sync Mio P550 with my laptop. I have Vista in my laptop. Sync program is not working.

    thank you for your help. I could set up Active sync in Visa. Ever thing seems okay but the problem is:

    Active syns is using Windows Media player as a default program for Sync. By this it only opens media files. While I want to see all files in my GPS. not ony media files. Could I set up Active sync to use windows explorer, then I will be able to see all files in my gps.

why not go and read crash.txt?
Or, just install MioMap once again?

    I would 1)read Help on Sync in Vista (though I gather Help is rather difficult to obtain) or try to directly open Mobile Device;
    1a)try to fix firewall issues- it's called something like Windows Defender- tell it the device is OK;
    2) install an older version of Active Sync, like 4.1
    3)there are a couple of other ideas, but may be those will work for you already

    Well it seems a bit weird. Active Sync uses Media player to sync the media files, but not anything else (be it understood that I prefer Win XP pro to Vista and get very angry with it when trying to do some simple things).
    An ad-hoc solution might be to go to Media Player and tell it not to sync with portable devices, another to install th Ac Sync 4.1 (not sure it'll work for Vista), yet the third one to hit the help on Microsoft site.
    If none of the above works, to install in a separate partition Win XP Home and sync through it (consuming). There is also a magasine called something like "Windows" which responds to questions of this sort.
    Quote" if nothing works, will you consider reading the instructions?"-very old (1975) joke
    Never mind,

My gps need install windows ce but install because I connect the cable to the computer but the computer gives unknown device message

If you GPS is at the point of needing windows CE installed then it is in a bad way. This is not done in the normal way on the Mitac Mio. It is setup using and SD cardspecific keys assigned by mitac to perform only a minimum of functions for its GPS hardware.LikeRESET +POWER then selecting different options specific to the GPS

Then getting maps on it is also different from a straight install. I suggest you contact MIO and have them reinstall Win CE and the maps for you before you compromise it totally so that it cannot be undone

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Mio P550 reboots but does not take any touchscreen inputs

I had the same and contacted MIO (use the phone number for your country,
). It was related to the shock the screen got and they graciously changed it for me (it was during the second year of the warranty). If the warranty has expired, you are probably looking to about a hundred bucks expense.

Mio P550 how do i do a hard reset

on/off switch in "off" position for at least 30 seconds, then turn it in "on " position, power on and "reset". You'll lose all your data and all the installed programs.
Alternative: using the screen options, go to "system info", and choose "hard reset".
Beware: pushing the joystick down while doing a reset will get you a boot menu with memory-formatting options. Choose "exit".
Otherwise look into xdadevelopers forum (Google it or go to, say,
Mio P550 / P350 ROM upload [Archive] - xda-developers
A good idea would be to backup your data in the first place- just a hint.
