None of the buttons work on the front of my Calypso. I checked to make sure it has power and it does. All of a sudden it started working yesterday and now it's doing the dame thing again. Nothing lights up not the time display or the button lights nothing. It's like there is no power to it at all.

Where the power cord goes into the washer is a small box called a line filter. It is there to protect the electronics in the control. It might be that the line voltage filter has failed. Remove the rear panel on the control to access it. Calypso Service Manual
I've had a similiar problem on my calypso. In my case the key pad would go dead after washing or pushing stop after a few minutes. If I unpluged the unit for a few minutes it would work again. This would appear to be in the controller board. I removed the board and inspected it finding no problems. After re-installing the board the washer appears to be working again. My conclusion is that there is a loose connector/connection. I'd suggest you remove and re-install all the connectors on the controller board. This is the board closest to the power chord.
Possibly you have a burned out control board or a burned out control panel. I had a similar problem. I changed the control board first and it ended up being the front control panel.
Nothing worked on the front panel. No lights came on and no beeping sound when you pushed any button. I should have done the front panel matrix test first in the manual. But the manual lead me to believe only one button or one light would fail. For some reason the whole front panel stopped working.
If you problem is the same. Do the matrix test on the front panel. If it checks out okay then it's your control board. I believe if the motor control board is the issue you would still see the front display working.
The fuse is on the motor control board. Do not try checking anything till you view the manual below.
could be a keypad problem . sometimes when we press a button, it stucks and does not disconnect then the thing would hang because it is waiting for other buttons and it can not because that particular button is still pressed.
after a while probably, that switch would break the contact and the thing would just run again as if there is no problem.
observe which button does not feel a click when you pess it. that is the button that is locking ...
You ever hear of dog years? Well Calypso follows those same guidelines. So your machine is 35 years old. These are the Edsel's of washing machine fame. I had a Calypso for 6 1/2 years. 3 pumps, numerous circuit boards, drive motors, phone calls and arguements with Whirlpool, along with machine downtime. I finally junked it and bought a Whirlpool Duet 9200 HT (get the made in Germany machine). A world of difference in wash quality. Fresh smelling unballed clean clothes. The Calypso was removed from the market and the subject of a class action lawsuit. Just Google it and start reading. Get comfortable first. There's a lot to read.
