My Compaq V3000 has wireless Internet capabilities which worked with no problem for a long time. I used it in lots of different locations and found I always had to got into something to adjust for wherever I was. All of a sudden, when I try to get to my wireless router at home, it is asking for a network and will not make any connections to any internet within range. How can I reset the wireless application so that it goes back to accepting my router?

Simply speaking, I cannot get onto my internet through using the Compaq laptop. It keeps asking for a network name and I am not part of a network.

Make sure your wireless switch is turned on. On most computers, there is an LED light that glows blue when the wireless device is turned on and enabled, and glows orange when off or disabled. Some newer models use a different color scheme, see the user guide for more information and the location of your switch.

If your switch is on and the light is blue, you may have a driver problem. Go into device manager and uninstall the drivers for the wireless card and re-install them. You should look on the HP web site for an up to date driver. You can connect ti the internet with this machine by plugging in a Cat5 ethernet cable between the port on your router and the port on the laptop. A blue or yellow cable should have come with the router.

How do i unlock my internet so i can acess wireless off it

Are you trying to connect a wireless capable device to a wireless connection?

If Yes of if unsure, to connect a WiFi capable device to a wireless connection you will need the following: a cable modem, a wireless router, Ethernet, a WiFi capable device.

You would connect the wireless router to the modem follow the installation manual instructions for the router to properly setup the router, different brands require different setup procedures.

Once the router is up and running find the SSID (wireless network name you gave the wireless router during setup) for the wireless signal. Click on the SSID in the list of available networks and enter in the passphrase when prompted to.

If all is successful you should connect to a wireless network

Let me know if that helped or if you need additional information or clarification.
