This netbook is really the Acer Aspire One D255. You have to pop off the keyboard, then remove 4 screws that hold the back panel in place, which will allow you to remove that back panel in order to get to the memory.

vinnietbell You're welcome - I was disappointed by the answers I saw that were just a repeating of the Gateway support page - I knew there HAD to be a way to do this. I'm glad that I investigated more - we both now are able to double the memory of these great little netbooks.

While the Gateway LT27 netbook series supports a total of 2GB of DDR3 RAM memory, due to the design of the netbook, the RAM memory on the Gateway LT27 netbook series is not replaceable by the customer and Gateway does not support upgrading or replacing the RAM by the customer.
Although I've never worked on this particular model, most netbooks have a small door on the bottom of the unit that covers the system memory module. There is usually a single screw holding the compartment closed. With the unit turned off, remove the screw and open the door to see the existing RAM module. Use the two tabs on either side of the module to remove it. Then slide the repalcement module in its place and reinstall the door. If the unit turns on and boots to Windows, you were successful

This is the RAM upgrade for your computer. On the bottom of your computer there may be a compartment that has screws on it. You could unscrew the bottom compartment.
Take out the old ram by pressing the two prongs on either side of the little green card and it should release. then insert your new ram on your computer. Make sure it makes a clicking noise when you insert the card. Close everything back up and turn on your computer and go to system information and make sure that it reads the new ram.
