You will need "flash magic" software, a device to provide 12V power supply to device, one cable to transfer data, download the working firmware for you device and save it to your device.

My DVD Burner will not open but it shows a red light which leads me to believe that it works but there is a problem with how it is connect or maybe it is an internal problem.

Hi there, you should probably try to open the burner manually, to do so, usualy there is a small hole on the from that you should push with a pin and this will open the dvd. Sometimes the dvd can get stuck if it is not centered perfectly. Thanks.

It is not detected as a DVD it is only labeled as a standard CD thought DVD's can be read but burnt, how can i fix that problem?, i already tried downloading drivers from AOpen.com but everything remains...

Have you checked how the drive is listed in device manager? You may need to find the Firmware for your model of drive and Flash it. This usually isn't as hard or scary as it sounds. :)

I downloaded a driver for my DVD AOpen DUW1616/ARR, it is an exe file. When I doubleclick on it nothing happens

It is not a driver, it is firmware. Usually firmware has to be installed via a different Application. the OS should recognize your DVD drive/burner without need for a driver.

Driver problem Aopen DUW1616/ARR

the maker is dead, they decided not to support the old products at all not even a nice legacy page, sure silly photos show and zero else.
NO OS told a tall, or PC model , is this VISTA, last person on earth using vista,?
why own relics that have no support at all from anyone but now virus sites, endless website offing virus drivers to the desperate.
2005 made dvd drive, it is 17 years old, and most that old are dead.(nos expected) or needs big time lens cleaning inside.
the driver are 17 years old
and the other good set of driver are from MS but the ended that. leaving a GIANT Sucking sound the vacuum of EOL.
why run Vista 2007 or older, there is no w7 driver but you can try, if you want see if the MS PnP severs can muster up w7 driver, now MS zero support for w7 too.
why not buy a PC or mobo 2010 or newer with i3 , up or h55 up chip set and end all this horror, and run w10
next time post OS and mobo model.
and get 10x better answers. I posted just a 2005 answer.

Drive light gets stuck on at reboot

Hi,
Try swapping the Jumper block ( Small plastic pin connector ) on The Back Of the DVD Drive. If using both Hard-Drive And DVD Drive on the Same IDE Cable. The DVD Should be set as Master And Hard-Drive As Slave, Or Vice versa.
Failing This, put The Hard Drive On Primary IDE Channel, And DVD On Secondary Channel.
These suggestions, have been made as it appears from your problem listed, that the 2 drives Are Conflicting with each Other.
Finally, is to try a different 4 pin ( Molex ) power cable to either device/Drive. if you have a single rail Power supply unit. the 2 units sharing a joint power cable, may be draining the PSU.

Hope this helps.

Drive Can't Burn DVDs

If it is a combo drive then you cannot burn DVD's with it.
A combo drive can burn CD's and play DVD's

If it is a burner, then install Nero and burn DVD's with that. But as above, if it says it's a COMBO drive, then it can't.

AOpen DUW1608/ARR - DVD Problem

it's a classic drive failure problem where the laser can no longer burn or read dvd's, and show rhr writer as a cdrw, but may still be able to read or write cd's only. You will have to replace the drive, they are quite inexpensive, and very easy to fit.

Right click on my computer>properties>device manager>hardware and look for line saying cd/dvd drives and highlight your dvd burner. Right click it and click uninstal. Restart your pc and Windows will automatically re install it. See if this works, if not either needs a lazer clean disc or you need to replace it they are cheap these days.

Won't burn

Check which flate cable do you have for its connection. AOpen recommendation is for 80-wire ATA-66/100 cable. In case this is not the cable you have, you should replace it. (The ATA/66/100 IDE cable is made from 80-conductor wire with 40 pin connectors, providing the superior ground spacing required by the ATA/66/100 specs, and allowing the full 100 Mbps burst transfer rate). Another AOpen recommendation is to configur the unit as a "Master" and not as a slave. Good luck
