Importance of back up file?

A back up disk set safeguards all the files that you have created. Documents, photographs, etc. are some of the most difficult files to replace; once they're gone - they're gone. A back up disk set will also save you the cost in dollars and time of purchasing, installing and configuring all the applications you have installed since getting the computer.

Imagine getting a new computer, without anything loaded on the disk. This is often the scenario when a hard drive fails. It will need to be reformatted (erasing the entire contents of the drive - both good and corrupted) or, in worst cases - physically replaced with a new drive. Next would be installation of the OS (Windows, etc.), then the applications (Office, browser, email, graphics, etc.). You can spend many hours doing all of this - but still not have you pictures, or spreadsheets, text documents, MP3s, etc.

Using the restore function of your properly configured back up program would automatically reinstall *everything* that was on your disk the last time you preformed a back up, to the new disk (or freshly formatted old disk), effortlessly. You could start the process, and go watch TV for a couple hours or so and come back and it would be all done - waiting for you to use the computer.

To be effective, back ups must be performed on a regular basis. Nightly is suggested - so that the most data you'd ever lose would be about a day's worth of data. If you choose to do weekly back ups, and your computer fails an hour before the backup is done, you will have lost an entire weeks worth of data - since the last back up was done 6 days and 23 hours ago. The restore process would feed your computer that is almost a week old.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Download music from my mp3 to my computer

Hi, First use a usb cable to connect your mp3 player to your computer. Next a box will pop up and ask you what you want to do, click the option that says "open in new folder" this will open all the contents of your mp3 player. Next click start(on your task bar) and search, click to search your hard drive (most likely drive C) and click the search for box and click music/audio. This will search for and find all available music files on your computer, when the search is done find the songs you want on your mp3 player, highlight them and drag-and-drop them into the folder that you opened for your mp3 player. Using this method you do not need any software or special training at all, it's easy fast and to the point. Now for free music I use a program called Blubster (look in Google) download it and download your songs for free!

have a nice day!!

During the last 2 dives after dropping below 12 or 11 hundred pound of pressure in the tank at 45 to 60 ft in depth my computer will start blinking all numbers and will register 5000 or 4600 lbs of...

Hi Mike, never heard of that specific problem, maybe the pressure sensor is faulty. I would strongly recommend that you do not dive with this computer set up until you get it serviced/repaired as it may not be recording data correctly and will not be calculating your correct nitrogen build up.

Have norton 360 installed on my computer, had one or two problems with the compter last week, so we did a system restore and have now lost the norton antvirus, we have the desktop icons but no programme...

hi freyapaige when you do system restore..........what it does is restore the drivers ect back to that date, it will not erase anything you have created as in files and documents however once you do a restore, any programs you have to put on the computer since that date will not function so if nortons was one of these programs you are going to have to re-install it, or go back to the restore function and choose undo the last the restoration. the first solution is the best re-install the nortons.

Im clueless

Just had to do this to my phone last week...

1: To perform a "Hard Reset" you'll need to first sync to a computer to save all your contacts and messages ect... or use a PIM backup program that can be found for free online. You need to do this step!!!! A hard reset clears the phone and restores the factor settings and software to original state! Make sure you have cab file for programs you wish to reinstall after the reset!

2: After saving all data hold both hard keys to the left and right of the direction pad and using the stylus press the reset button located on the bottom of the devise next to the charging port... It took me two tries its easiest to press the hard keys while holding the phone upside down...

3: You will know you pressed the keys correctly when you are promted with a on screen warning... Do you wish to continue with a hard reset yes or no... or something like that. use your stylus to select yes only if you have saved all your contacts ect first!

4: Your devise will restart and reinstall you factory software... you will have to reinstall any and all aftermarket programs that you wish to use. This includes the lastest version of .net framework that you may or may not have updated to.

MP3 Player Malfunction

Your playlist shouldnt have been erased as when u update from one music program to another all of the music files ie wav, mp3, ect is suppose to redirect to the new proggy unless you tell it not to as some do ask you if you wanna associate older files with the new proggy . If you say no it wont erase them so they are there somewhere on the putre. What you should do is try to do a search for all your file formats one at a time such as in search type .MP3 do a search Type .wav ect ect Try this and if there not there they have be erased and wont recover them unless you wanna spend big bucks on data recovery and thats not feasable. Now with the player you sure the unit is operating properly as music or data just dosent dissappear into thin air?? You may have a crack in the memory curcuit or a defect in the processor??. Unfortunatly its not worth on most of these types of players . good Luck
