Question about Frigidaire Kitchen Ranges

Frigidaire Range model FEFL79DSJ has electronic clock/timer

My range was doing just fine the other day and suddenly it stopped working. The clock was black and all the eyes were not working. Strange thing however, when you turn on one of the eyes, the oven beeps and the clock lights up and the oven controls seems to work, but they don't.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

    This is a oven/range not a refrigerator.

    Thanks,

  • letsroll Jul 29, 2008

If it is the electronic timer, could it affect the cooking surface also?

  • letsroll Jul 29, 2008

How would i know if it is the clock/timer? Based on my description, does that seem probable?

Dear Sir/madam,

Connect an ohmmeter across the terminals and advance the timer to see if the switches
are opening and closing OK. If not or the motor doesn't run - replace the
timer. Since the burner is
inside the oven, you cannot immediately see if it has ignited. Different manufacturers have designed
different methods of keeping the
gas safety valve closed, until ignition is guaranteed. The oven
thermostat valve is set by hand to control the oven temperature. In some types of systems, the
thermostat is not a valve at all, but an
electrical switch that opens and closes by oven temperature.
The
gas safety valve prevents gas from flowing to the burner until ignition is assured. If it has an
electrical thermostat, it cycles the safety valve. On and off as long as there is ignition.

Thanks
Good luck

    Dear sir/madam,

Try to remove the power from the oven for a few minutes and then turn it back on. If it would not help,I think this is a bad clock ERC and also a Bad sensor Probe. This can be fix by a service centre only. So call the authorised service for more help.

    Thanks
    Good luck

If it is the clock timer/control panel, it would affect the cooking top, they are interconnected

If the oven controls aren't working, then replacing the control panel is the answer. They wouldn't be lighting up if they didn't have power. As long as nothing is working then everything points to the controls of the oven. Many ovens have their control panels go out over time at least the newer systems as nothing is made as it used to be.

Microwave door switches are simple on/off devices that keep the microwave from running when the door is open. Microwave door switches are usually black and are about an inch long. They have metal terminals on the end that make contact with the door hook or latch. This completes the circuit which allows the microwave oven to run. Without this contact, the microwave will not operate. Check the door hooks and the door-release. If one of these is faulty, the door switch won't activate, and the oven won’t work. If you suspect that the thermal fuse has blown, call a professional appliance repair person. Even an unplugged microwave oven can kill or seriously injure someone. This is because there is a high energy capacitor inside the microwave oven case. If it is not discharged properly, you could be electrocuted.

Sorry I posted in wrong place, in your case disconnec oven power plug to see if it reset, check if the ignitors start, at a glance your problem looks like a faulty control panel.

    Ginko Jul 29, 2008

The oven panel seems to be faulty, it should be tested using a multimeter and eventually replaced. You can find replacement for your appliance here.just insert model number (not model name) in website search box.
You have model number printed on a plate at the back or at the side of the oven.
Many oven also have a door switch that prevent burner and ignitor from burning when door is open, also check that ithis is not stuck.

    Ginko Jul 29, 2008

Yes, if the timer is shorting for example, none of the ignitors will start.

Hi Friend, this is Z. Thank you for your post!

Based on the symptoms you are describing, it appears your Frigidaire range is possibly experiencing a potential wiring failure or a communication problem with the EOC (Electronic Oven Control). Try unplugging your range or flipping the household circuit breaker off first. It is good to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on your range. If the issue continues, then I recommend contacting a professional to make a precise diagnosis.

Top and bottom heating element does not work on Frigidaire electric range ES300

Usually when both elements are not working and everything else is working fine, the problem is your OCU (oven control unit), commonly known to consumers as the clock.
The clock controls the oven and most times does not produce an error code when it fails.
You will need the actual model number from a sticker located on the oven frame when you open the bottom drawer, the sticker will have the model and serial number clearly listed.
Do a Google search for that model number and find the clock.
I've provided a link for what probably is the proper clock but without the full model number I can't say for sure:

Depending on model number since GE, Whirpool, Frigidaire and Maytag, LG, Samsung and so on makes the Kenmore brand appliances you either have a bad EOC, (clock), or oven sensor. Guess work is all it is with out the model number. Model number should be on range somewhere and will start with numbers .numbers.

Frigidaire electric range fef336 heating elements not heating

Range does not heat (lights and timer do not operate).
This would indicate the range is not receiving the required 220 volts. Check house hold breakers or fuses, open wiring between the terminal block and the components, and the power cord.
