Question about Lands Phones

Re Phone Problem

Hi, Thanks. I do most of the programming on the system and I have assigned access to that line for the phone through Line Data and also gave access for the extension through Line Access, it just seems like there is something I’m missing :( The phone is a private to line and it does ring but you can’t answer it but the line data config and line access config are in place as they were before the power cut. I didn’t set up the system originally but do maintain it. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks Heather McDonald

Hi Hearher,
Usually a private line rings in as a target line to a specific port and is assigned as Ring and Appear on that port. Do you have regular CO lines or a T-1 ? You might also check the programming you have in place and verify the line is set to " ring and Appear ' on the phone. If you have a T-1 you also have to make sure the " Received " digits are programmed. I'll be out most of today but will check back this afternoon and see if you have responded. Good Luck, ....Mike

I can not access my main line

If a system defaults programming it assigns only lines 1 and 2 to each set.
You either had this issue or somebody removed line 3.
Call a tech in to program.

Hi , i have a problem with my KX-T7730 : in brief , when i press the line access code which is the " 9 key" , it gives me wrong CO . so i want to change the program and set it to my desire CO...

So many options. Why are you dialing "9" for an outside line? You can just press a button assigned to the line you want.
Since a 7730 works on up to 18 different Pana systems, there's no telling what you have, but you can assign a specific line to a button, a group to a button, program the system to not pick vacant lines, or dial the direct line 8x or 8xx access code. There's an outside chance that ARS (automatic route selection) is enabled and the "9" doesn't even give you an outside line in the first place.

Which is yours?

I have a Kx-t7420 panasonic phone system. I have three of my phones that go directly to line 2. no idea why. Can I change this? Also there is so much noise on line 2 that I cannot hear. Is this something...

Actually, you have a Panasonic TD phone system and a 7420 phone, but no matter. The feature you have is probably "idle line preference" or "preferred Line Assignment-Outgoing". In TD systems by default, you select lines from highest to lowest. If you only have 2 lines and PLA is set, you get line 2 then line 1. You can change it to get line 1 first, or chage the trunk access order. The first is something you can do from each phone, the second requires access to system programming. The bad thing about the first solution is if line 1 is busy, you won't get any line. The second will give you the entire trunk group.

Anyway, from each phone without picking up the handset, press PROGRAM 99 and dial 1301 STORE. That will give you line 1 when you pick up the handset. Just so you know or can change it, 11 is none, 12 is idle line, 13xx is specific line and 1+the intercom is intercom. Pick up the handset and drop it back down to exit programming.

As far as the noisy line, it's probably a central office issue. It's hard to test as that line is the outer pair of the jack that plugs into the phone sytsem (RJ-14 pair 2), but you can probably take a regular phone and test it at the demarc point.

I HAVE A TELEPHONE SYSTEM WITH ONE PHONE NUMBER, BUT 25 EXTENSIONS. 23 OF THEM GETS A DIAL TONE, BUT TWO OF THEM DON'T. I DID TRY TO REPLACE THE PHONE JACK WITH A NEW PHONE JACK THAT I BOUGHT FROM...

A lot of questions need to be answered. But for starters, the other two phones probably do not have the line programmed into them. If these two phones light up...have any other working features then it's not the phones or jacks it's the programming. All phone systems have "line assignment"/ "line access" programming.

What make and model of system do you have?

P.S. On a separate topic, you should definitely have more than one line in your system for that many telephones.

I want all incoming calls to come through my extension only.

What it sounds like you want to do is restrict the automatic system answering to certain extensions. This is done via feature code 204.

To identify the lines on which outside calls should be answered by the system:
  1. Press feature +(00)+(system program)+(system program)+#204
  2. Enter the two-digit system line number of the desired line.
  3. To assign or unassign the line, press (Next Data) until the appropriate value appears.
    1 = Assigned
2 = Not Assigned (the factory setting)
  4. To identify another line, press (next item)or (prev. item) until the line number appears on the display. Then repeat Step 3.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for all the lines that you want to identify.
  6. Select another procedure, or exit programming mode.

Need to change the phone number assigned to a line

Hi Amy,

Ok ~ first to change the incoming line to a phone, goto the phone and do a:
-> FEATURE * 0,
-> Press the line that rings on that phone... (this will be the target line number ~ maybe somewhere in the 145-256 range)
-> now get into the system programming
-> go to LINE and type in the number you've seen on the display
-> enter and find TRUNK/LINE DATA
-> enter and hit next till you see PRIMESET and change that number to where you want that number to ring to. Hit next, after changing number and hit REL to get out of programming.

Now call the number to ensure it is calling to the correct extension.

Automated Attendant not on everyone line

The below texts should help you.

**Found on page 9-8 of "Partner R6 Install and Upgrade Manual" so your system may vary slightly:

Use Line Assignment (#301) to assign all the lines that you want the auto attendant to cover
to extension X.

**Found on page 4-47 of "Partner R6 Install and Upgrade Manual" so your system may vary slightly:

To assign lines to a specific extension:
1. Press [Feature] [0] [0] [System Program] [System Program] [#] [3] [0] [1] at extension 10 or 11.
2. Enter the extension number to be programmed. For example, to program extension 15, press [1] [5]. The red light next to each button that has a line assigned is on steady; the red light next
to each button that has a pool assigned flashes.
3. To remove all existing line assignments, press [Remove] before selecting a line.
4. Enter the line number to be assigned. For example, to select line 1, press [0] [1].
5. Do one of the following:
■ If you want to assign the line to the first available button with lights, press [Next Data] until the
display reads:
Line Assignment 15 L01
1 Assigned
1 Assigned is the factory setting.
■ If you want to remove a line assignment, press [Next Data] until a display like the following
appears:
Line Assignment 15 L01

■ If you want to assign the line to a specific button, press 3. A display like the following

select.
6. Do one of the following:
■ To program another line for this extension, press [Next Item] or [Prev Item] until the line number
appears on the display. Then repeat Step 5.
■ To program another extension, press N P and begin at Step 2.
7. Select another procedure, or exit programming mode.
