Re: to solve code error 0146 and 0148
Both of these are hard drive errors. Error 0146 is a failed hard drive or bad drive sector, and 0148 is that thew machine is no longer detecting the hard drive. Basically, your hard drive has failed and will need replaced. Replace the hard drive and you will be set. The best place I've found to buy hard drives is at pricewatch.com, they have the best prices on the market.
Do you get the Blue screen of death which is called when the computer is unable to load. Haveyou hit the F8 key to choose from the list given? Try going to the Setup mode F2 and run your hard diagnostic.
The computer restarting itself can very likely be a power supply issue as well - but the error message mean you do need to replace the hard drive - a computer can have a bad hard drive and still operate - ">
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi there. 0146 error is DST Log contains previous error(s). 0148 error is IDE ERROR: status (x) (s)
This could be a problem with the BIOS, restart the PC and hit F2 as it starts up, this will take you into the bios, reset the bios to default setting, press F10, save and exit the bios, the PC will restart so perform another check and see if the same error code return.
Try an XP repair: Boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your Applications or data; it just reinstalls the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
