Question about D-Link DSL-G604T Wireless Router

1 Answer

Lost Wireless Connection DLink G604t

I have had this router for about 3 years and have had no problem. I have 3 laptops in the house that connect wireless. 2 with Vista 1 with XP. The XP laptop will not connect or even see the wireless router while the Vista machines are OK.

The Xp machine has Zone Alarm while the other 2 do not. Disabling zone alarm does not help

Thanks in Advance

Yes it does have built in wireless but it does not see the wireless network. It does see other networks.

    Also I have tried channels 6 & 11

Yes it has inbuilt wireless adapter. I have tried to repair wireless adapter (which has resolved the problem on previous occasions).

I have also tried to addrecreate the profile without success.

When I search for the wireless networks it does not display mine (which is a hidden SSID) but the neighbours etc display

    wireless conection disappeared

The Laptop now detects the network but detects it with SSID DLINK eventhough I have changed it to a different SSID and confirmed this by loging on to the Router.

Just to make this even weirder my sister who also has a g604t rang me this afternoon say he router is behaviing exactly the same.

I know this is very unlikely as it seem to be a router problem, but could this be an automatic update problem similar to the Window - Zone Alarm of a few weeks ago.

I mean what are the odds of two routers one 3yrs old one 6 months old developing the same fault at the same time!

So if your other 2 laptops (WinVista) is working then that means that the wireless on your Dlink is working fine. Its possible that its a problem with the settings on the winxp laptop. does your winxp laptop have a builtin wireless adpater? What does it say on your winxp laptop is you will try to view the available wireless network?

I dont think that its your zone alarm. the updates for for your zone alarm or windows will not really affect the setting of the router. but here i what you can try its possible its a software problem you can try updating the software/firmware of your dlink router.

My laptop cannot connect to the internet through wireless connection using dlink dir615

This is an intermittent wireless connection problem. If you have a cordless phone there, that's the main problem. If none, you need to change the wireless channel of your router to 11. You can do that by opening the router's admin page. If that didn't help, you need to update the router's firmware. Contact Dlink support for more details on how to update the router's firmware.
