Water level sensor thinks water is too low to run pump...possibly due to hard water. Is it fixable without too much trouble. I saw something in the manual about bypass. Is this the solution?

Both oil and water tempture not picking heat up then the water tempture goes up and down in secounds car tells me to stop now gone back to not picking heat up

Since you didn't mention the car overheating, it's most likely a wiring problem in the oil pressure/water temp circuit. Just to be safe, check your coolant level and oil level when cold.

Try wiggling the wires on the water temp sensor and oil pressure sensor. Possible the engine computer or wiring running to it is faulty. These sensors may be on on different circuits or interconnected. Hard to tell without a wiring diagram.

Is the check engine light on? If yes, have someone pull the trouble codes and see what you get. Most ECM/PCMs have "hidden" codes that will only show with a scanner.

Are you sure the oil gauge is for temperature and not pressure?

I would check the coolant level too. If you have some air in the system it could cause the water temp issue.

Water level sensor

The 'low-water' sensor installed in a bathtub is designed to NOT allow the pump to run without water contacting it.
It sounds as if this is operating as it should.
Once the pump comes on you should be able to touch the "logo" or the on/off button to turn the pump on and off.
If the pump is not turning on/off when the tub is full of water you may be experiencing a problem with the control box under the tub skirt.

WHY WONT MY GENERAL ELECTRIC MODLE #WCXH208VOWW SPIN

Hi Darryl

Usually won't spin until water is drained to a low level.

Wont drain possibly because of blockage or pump blocked or stuck. (A Common Problem in Washing Machines)

So... As for further Troubleshooting
Process of elimination.
Where is Time Wheel set and what does it require to advanced to next stage.

Think of it as a Rotating Timer Switch stopping at each stage to check conditions.
The stages are controlled by sensors like "High Water Level"
The Sensor could be a simple Float Switch... eg. "High Water"

If water is High... Dont allow door to open and don't allow spin.
But do allow Pump to run.
It's all Plain Logic like used in computers (If, Then, Else)

Car is running hot I think it's my water pump .

The most likely causes of a hot running engine are the following:

1. low antifreeze level in the radiator and cooling system.
2. fan not turning on at operating temperature.
3. restrictions in the cooling system such as sediment build up.

Water pumps usually leak when they are bad, and can cause an overheat because of low coolant level.
Check whether the water pump is leaking after topping off the coolant level and running at operating temperature, and then shutting off the car's engine.

1975, 7.5 Kohler marine genset, runs only with the reset depresed

Can't search for a manual without model, type, serial, etc numbers...

A few things to take a look at:

1) Oil level / pressure sending unit. This is normally bypassed as long as the start switch is pressed. When engine starts, and switch is released, engine will die if sending unit is defective, or you are low on oil.

2) Exhaust temperature sensors. Older units were notorious for burning these up.

3) Cooling Water Temperature sensor. These cause trouble often, but mostly due to water pump impeller being eaten away by galvanic action and not able to pump water as effecively. End result is water temp higher than normal, which trips the switch, which kills the engine.

4) Alternator (generator) output not as it should. If output doesn't rise to proper level within a few seconds of engine start, the engine will be shut down.

5) Choke not working as it should

6) Bad fuel, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter.

Low coolant level

The water pump is mounted in the center passenger side of the motor possibly inside with timing belt but if it is leaking you will see the water and coolant in that area.

Overheating

Hi,
If the car is overheating it could be due to a thermostat which is stuck in the closed position, a failed water pump or just a slack belt driving it. I think there will be a "little" tube carrying coolant from the engine to the coolant expansion tank, and if you run the engine with the filler cap removed you should see water coming through that pipe IF the rump is running. A failed water pump will not necessarily leak, it just won't pump the water round the engine.

Always take care when dealing with a pressurised cooling system on an overheating engine - the water may well be above boiling point.

If you run the engine without coolant the cylinder head may well warp and repair bill will be huge.

Hope this helps you a bit. D
