The system files of your computer probably got corrupted. Try repairing the computer's operating system with the windows installer that came with the computer. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Hi,

if you have a cd/disk in the rom or dvd drives try taking those out and rebooting, I fixed mine once that way just by doing that. Might want to open it up and check all the connections. If you bought that machine new it may have come with an original OS disk and you can try that, but my advice and probably your best bet would be to call and get some estimates and take it in. You might be in luck and the CPU might have went and not the hard drive, therefore all your data will be recoverable.

sorry

If you are able to access the safe mode, then thats better. Switch your computer on into safe mode, right-click anywhere on the desktop, go to Properties, select Advanced and select the Monitor tab. Put 60Hz as your refresh rate and You will notice a column that says Modes that this Monitor cannot display, check that box and click Apply then Ok.

Dell inspiron mini 10 Turn it on, put in password. screen says windows did not start up sucessfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this. then i go to the last known good...

A blue screen with white writing appears on my computer,
just before windows is about to begin and it reads:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut
down to prevent damage to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error
screen restart you're computer.
If this screen appears again follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is
properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask
your hardware/software manufacturer for any windows
updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly
installed hardware/software. Disable BIOS memory options
such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe
mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options,
and then select safe mode.

Technical information:

STOP: 0XOOOOOOED

(OX8OED4AF8, OXCOOOOO32, OXOOOOOOOO,OXOOOOOOOO)

I cannot go into windows even in safe mode, and I don't
know how to execute any of the other things it's telling
me to do.

It may have something to do with my virtual memory as
windows had to increase it while I was playing a computer
game, or because I added some extra pictures I downloaded
to a computer game folder where the default pictures were
already stored.

if u cant do these then reinstall the operating system.

After loading the laptop, the screen goes black showing only a white mouse cursor that you are able to move. Even tried loading in safe modes but the page still doesn't load.

Please restart the computer in safe mode and check if that is loading. If safe mode loads well, then run system restore (Steps depend on the windows version you have) and restore your computer to a earlier date (say 1 or 2 days earlier) when you know that your computer was working fine.

If you cannot login to safe mode then we might have to do a manual registry restore
Please use the link to know more about it. If you are going to use the step, please keep a printout handy of the instructions.

For XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
(follow the manual steps)

For Vista & Windows 7
Boot from OS DVD and run startup repair.

You need to find your "Operating System CD" sometimes they give you this sort of stuff with your computer but if not, find one from somewhere. Put the CD in when the computer starts and you will see a message saying "Press any key to boot CD" or something similar, boot the CD and press install Windows XP - when you have pressed F8 to agree to Terms and Conditions, it will give you an option to overwrite your current system or Repair. Click repair and it will start installing stuff. DONT WORRY - its not deleting your information its just fixing your computer. When the installation has finished, you will be sorted! - Make sure its a Microsoft windows XP CD though, otherwise you cannot repair your system.

Hope this helps.

Unplugging all unnecessary devices such as printers, network cable, usb devices etc. and see if anything changes. Try rebooting it in Safe Mode:

To go into safe mode -- Press F8 key as soon as the pc restarts.

(You will have do again if pc starts in normal mode.)

You would see a black screen as soon as you hit f8.

Select Safe mode

On the black screen >> select the option that says
