SOOOO frustrated!!!! This is the second TV in a year, the only option here in England for a TV that is compatible to be used in the States. We returned the first when it stopped recognizing DVD in region 1 after 1 month. However, now after 6 months this one is stopping mid play on the DVD. I use this TV once a day for about 45 minutes while I walk on a treadmill. That is it....... While watching it just pauses and sometimes will start back up most times you have to turn it off and start over. It will stop again randomly sometimes immediately, sometimes longer. We tried using it only on british 220 power. But when it started having trouble we then tried using it on 110 power. (we have both in our house) Any suggestions?? We have had electricians come and check the power and they said it was fine.
I am not sure but maybe purchase a DVD cleaner kit for the player around $10. USD, and make sure the DVD itself is clean and without scratches. Also, try dvd player on another tv to see if it is OK. Other than that input settings. I do not know of any inherent design problems in the unit. Have you tired their web site?

I have found that you get what you pay for in electronics. I bouoght a Cyber Home recorder, it lasted about 15 months before it went out.
I had another off brand ( don't remember name) that also didn't last. I have an older, I think it's a Panasonic, at least 5-6 years old. It won't reord on DVD+R, only on DVD/RW discs.
So, first I say you bought ****.
Buy name brand only it lasts longer.
Second, these things don't last to long.
I have a player only that is 5 + years old that still plays movies.
I haven't used the Panasonic for about a year. I do use it to PLAY movies still.
I own an AVOL 19in TV, I just got my comcast cable hooked up; I too was plagued by initially having to use my other remote to turn TV/volume on/off up/down. Being the code is not listed in the Comcast universal remote instructions, in the above answers someone mentioned APEX as a parent company with AVOL; I was able to use a code from the APEX codes listed in the Comcast universal remote instructions to get the controller to work with turning the TV power on/off and volume control. The code that worked for my particular TV was 10765. Try these codes for your TV to see if they work- 10748, 10879, 10767, 10890. Hope this helps.
