How do I connect a Marantz av8801 to a Marantz sr7009

The 8801 is an 11.2 channel AV preamp/processor. The SR7009 is a 9.2 channel receiver that includes both preamp and amplifiers.

The 8801 handles an amazing 11 channels of audio, but you can only use the SR7009 for 7.1 input channels. (Does anyone really need 11?) Unless you have some extremely demanding audio requirements, you would probably just want to use the SR7009 by itself. You can't fully utilized the 8801 as a front end (pre/pro) so I'm not aware of any benefits to connecting the two of these together.

How do i attatch preamp to marantz sr9200 for phono

If you are talking about a phono preamp, take the output rca cables from the turntable, "red and white" plug it into the preamp input, "labled" next take a red and white cable wire male ends, "3 to 6" feet long, and plug the one end in the output of the preamp, "labled" and finally plug the remainder into the AUX input of the Marantz receiver matching the colour codes so the left and right channels don't get mixed up, you now should be good to go.

Marantz sr6001 stanby blinking

It is possible that the amplifier had encountered a fault with a higher current drain which had triggered it to a protection fault condition. The fault can be with your output drivers. Please check for short on the outputs fitted for both the channels. Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes. Even a fault in the preamp stages that drives in high current into the output can shut the Amplifier. Sometimes this can be a noise which can be a HUM or HISS before the protect works. Faulty capacitors in these circuits also can cause similar issues and needs close observation. You need to confirm and replace the specific stages or outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board. Maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias or there is a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the amplifier comes out of the protect mode then check for short on the speakers.

Center channel dosen't work on 10 yr old marantz 500$ receiver. Should I just buy a new one?

I'd do some more investigation first. Have you determined if the amplifier for the channel works or if it's a preamp problem using the built-in speaker setup controls?

With this unit's great audio processing features you might be able to bypass a failed amplifier using the pre-outs and drive an external amp for the missing channel.

You could always just get a modest stereo amp (like a Carver M-100T and bridge it), or use the extra channel for another center speaker or a subwoofer, for example.

Selecting phono preamp for Onkyo HT-R510

The magnetic cartridge preamp should work with the turntable, as presumably it will have a magnetic cartridge in it. The only reason that the amp states "magnetic" is that some very old turntables have ceramic cartridges which should not be connected to that terminal. Even if the turntable had a "ceramic" it could be replaced with a magnetic one!

Hi

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, you have an odd problem happening there, the pre-amp being the common denominator to the syptoms. Perhaps you could try reducing the attenuators to say 60% and retry at the same levels you used to use at the preamp. It is unlikely that there is a fault occurring that would increase the output of the preamp, more likely to be a DC component getting through. It could also be possible that the amps if all the same make and model have through over the period of installation developed the same fault.
There will have to be a common contributor to the symptoms. It is not uncommon for the same problem to affect a particular model at the same point of its life. Best approach and easiest to fault find it would be to change out the preamp with something similer to test the system and see what happens. At least tyouy will know where to start looking. Hope I have been able to help you, still happy to discuss it further. In the Free section our only reward is a FixYa ratings. Cheers

I have Marantz tuner & preamp AC500 conected to 5 amplifiers and speakers in 13 rooms. System was working great for 12 years. Now, I have to reduce the volume on Marantz preamp, from 12 to 9 to avoid...

Hi Andrew49

If all the amps are going into protection mode, then the preamp may be pushing a DC component with the signal. This is a little serious, and should be investigated further. There may be some deterioration in the electronics of the preamp causing this. I would suspect a leaky transistor or bypass/coupling capacitor in the DC coupled output stages. should not be too hard fix for a good HiFi tech.
