Hi I have a Toshiba A10 notepad and it's suffering a few problems. First of all, it says a error message 797 when trying to connect to the Internet. I've checked Modem Properties and also Modem in use, Modem status(modem removed)or a problem identifying the modem, also it displays that the com ports are already used. I tried the two Recovery Disks and have been asked to restart. From there it restarts up then displays a black screen saying cannot use disk, also giving a reason check Cable then continues to desktop. Not resolving my problem...can you help in anyway

Hi,
goto device manager, right ckick the modem and uninstall it. then press F5 or press scan for hardware changes tool button. then go for the new device install with the driver of the modem available with you. if this doesnt work, let me know

Netzero connection problem?


A modem is a device that allows you to use a voice telephone line to connect your computer to the internet. If you contact NetZero Tech Support, they will send you a CD to run through the setup. The modem connects to the wall with a standard telephone wire. (The ends are known as RJ11)

Error no.797 occurs when i tried to connect to internet through dial up modem

797 - The modem could not be found.



This error occurs only in Windows 2000 and XP. The error can occur if the modem is no longer visible to the system, and may be a problem related to the modem driver, or system conflicts that cause the modem to work only some of the time.
In some cases, rebooting the machine may "solve" the problem.
If the modem is an external and is not powered on when the system is booted this error may occur: shut-down, power on the modem & re-boot the system.
If the error persists, check to see if there is an updated driver for your modem.

Cannot open internet when trying to get wifi


Hi,

Ok - few things to clarify first:

When you say "it connects" what do you mean? Do you open internet explorer and can browse the net without problem?

You Pick up Wifi connections - make sure you pick the correct one to connect to and ensure that you use the correct Password.

If all the above are working then make sure the Laptop is rebooted when you attempt to connect to wifi. Msn has problems when it can not resolve correct IP address - rebooting the machine should fix that.

Or the connection speed is too slow - which these days can still happen.

Finally, Get the full error message from msn and type it into google. Guide yourself to the Microsoft pages with the correct solution.

So few things to clarify and few things to test out.

Have you re-installed the proper drivers?

Make sure you have all from the Driver drop-down list.


Just as an aside, if you are using ADSL, why are you bridging through COM? Just curious.

Modem not Working


This error cause:
  1. Incorrect Windows connection settings.
  2. An incorrectly configured modem.
  3. A corrupt dialer.
  4. Out of date modem firmware.
But before trying anything chech your modem is ok and driver is installed correctly.

hmmm..maybe you should go through this link, find toshiba icon, and get a new set of system drivers?
