Question about Sharper Image Professional Plus Ionic Breeze? QUADRA GP Silent (SI861) (2 Pack) Air Purifier

We have a Human Touch Sharper image chair purchased online from Sharper image. The remote control has come detatched from the electrical wiring. It has pulled out. Our electrician suggested that we ask if we can obtain another remote with electrical cord attatched. The remote is molded and if we attempt to open to reattatch the electrical wire, it will compromise and most likely crack the remote. Please advise.Thank yo very much..ELizabeth Lee

There isn't one. The reason why Sharper Image went out of business is because the Ionic Breeze was proven to be ineffective product and harmful to use in some cases based on Consumer Reports data as well as data from the EPA. They sued Consumer Reports, lost the case, and had to pay all the legal bills.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to making decision on all ionizers by the end of the year. It's quite possible that no one will be selling them anymore.

There is thread I left in the Ionic Breeze section about the EPA data on ionizers and the harmful effects of using them as well as a link about what happen to Sharper Image.

This product should have been regulated a long time ago. Orek and few others are going to be pulling the plug on them real soon.

    Disregard that solution. Thats only for the Ionizers.



    I don't know about finding the remote for the chair. You might want to check on EBay and see if maybe someone is carrying one on there.

You answered your own question really, you "replace" them. The Sharper Image online company you see today is not the same Sharper Image company that made these units. That company went into bankruptcy in 2008 and the name was bought by new investors who opened a new online store under the Sharper Image name. Unless the store you bought these from has a return policy that is still valid, you are stuck with two units that have no warranty and no service or parts support.

If you know what is wrong, you can find second-hand parts online and fix it yourself. If you do not know what is wrong, finding out by replacing parts can get expensive very quickly. In that case, I would suggest selling the unit for parts or just disposing of it alltogether. There will usually be someone like myself who is looking for parts since that is the only way to keep these running anymore. I can see what second hand parts are selling for online and it may be worth trying to sell them off. Whether any parts are actually being sold at those prices, however, is another story and you may just be wasting your time trying.

Joyce, according to Sharper Image, if you purchased it online from Sharper Image after 2008, they will assist you with the repair. Call Customer Service 877-714-7444 . If that is not the case, you can either return it to the place of purchase for repair or take it to a small appliance repair shop,

Who could I send the blade interior section to to replace a broken part?


If you purchased it before 2008, nobody. Sharper image went bankrupt and was bought by another co who does NOT warranty or repair older products. Below is excerpt from their site:

Hissing noise from Ionic Breeze


The hissing noise is caused by the 5000-volt grid wires arcing. If you look inside the unit closely in the dark, you'll see blue electrical arcs -- these generate the hiss.

The arcing is caused by deteriorating grid wires. If you've cleaned it as well as you can, and it still hisses, it won't be long before it fails.

With Sharper Image out of business, don't know if there is still a repair service for these units.

The bad news is Sharper Image recalled the units. They got into a legal squabble over the product with Consumer Reports on the unit based on an article they ran. Sharper Image couldn't prove how the unit worked so they lost the suit and had to pay all the legal bills forcing the company into bankruptcy.

I Am trying to program the sharper image jumbo sized universal tv remote.I can;t get the Samsung dvd/vcr combo to except any code listed in the instruction manual


I can help you with your Sharper Image remote control.

There are two Sharper Image Remote Controls: a Sharper Image Jumbo Touch Remote Manual, and a Sharper Image Jumbo Remote Manual.

The Jumbo Touch remote does have a learn function which may be helpful in controlling your Samsung DVD/VCR combo.

If the warranty you are counting on is a Sharper Image Warranty I need to advise you that it was voided in the buyout on 30 May, 2008 when everything at Sharper Image was liquidated by Hilco Consumer Capital, Gordon Brothers, and Bluestar Alliance. If however it was a warranty company outside of Sharper Image you need to contact them.

You can purchase a bulb for the GP on ebay for under $11, which is really a good price considering what you would have paid from Sharper Image. Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it. Hope this helps you.
