Are you talking about your Windows administrator password?

Are there any other user accounts on the computer? If so, there may be a way to recover your administrator password through a command prompt.

If however you are the only user on the computer, I'm afraid you will have to reformat/reinstall the operating system. =(

I need to reset my administrator password or delete it

The Administrator (or Admin) account on your computer is the account that has access to all computer resources and which can perform any task in the operating system.
You should occasionally reset the password for the account to help ensure that its security remains uncompromised.

Log into your computer with your Admin account.
Click the "Start" button, click "Control Panel" and open the "User Accounts" section.

Click on the "Administrator" user account and then click the "Change Password" link.
Type in your current password for the computer, and then type in the new password you want your account to have.
Click the "OK" button, and the password for your Admin account is immediately changed.

I forgot my Administrator Password

Are you sure there is a password? Try leaving the password blank and logging in. Let me know how this goes and if it doesn't work, I'll see what you can do

Changing administrator password so every one can use the computer

the reason for an admin password is so not everyone can down load, or change program files important to the computer running correctly. you can set up different user accounts with varying degrees of access, each with their own password if you wish. from the start menue, go to contol panel/ user accounts

I have limited access

Change your account to an admin account or contact the admin for your system. To change your account to an admin account follow these steps: go to your control panel and select user accounts. On windows 7 you can just type "user accounts" in the search bar in your start menu. From there, select change your account type, and change it to Admin. If you are set as a standard account by your systems administrator, you will need their password to do so.

Asking for password before system. Boots

Maybe you forgot the pass or some users put pass on your system or account..You can salvage your old user account by logging on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. The Administrator user (by default) is similar to a "superuser" and has the highest access level to reset any user password.
If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode.
The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described on this page is most likely the easiest route: Reboot Windows in Safe Mode. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2 Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!
Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

You can reset a lost or "forgot Windows password" with 4 methods below:
1. Another valid administrator account which can normally log on.
2. A password reset disk or a repair disc, which is created in advance ( before you lost password ).
3. Third-party software to create a bootable password reset CD/DVD or USB, like "Windows Password Breaker".
4. Re-install. Will lose data.
goodluck and hope this helps.pls rate ..thanks

Dell Latitude D410, son changed User Name and Password. He doesn't remember either one. How do I reset both?

if you are admin user sign on to your account go to control panel/ user account/ create a new account for your son........(do not delete his old account you may delete access to documents)

if you are not admin user or there is no admin user...
unplug PC, take cover off... take battery (it looks like a nickel, a little bit thicker) for 5 mins... then replace,,, put cover back on plug in to AC...... turn on system once in go straight to user account and delete the password else you will be lock out again once you shut down.

I forgot my adminastor password

Elevate a secondary account outside of the admin account to admin status, then login as it and change your admin password. If you don't have a secondary user account, you can create one (and elevate it to admin status) by running the following from the command line:

net user "useraccount" "password" /add
net localgroup administrators "your pc's name"\"useraccount" /add

Of course, remove the quotations and insert the user account name, your pc's name, and the password where those words show up. That should allow you to get into Windows with admin privelages and change the administrator password. I do it through the "manage" function by right clicking on My Computer. Then go to Local Users and Groups, fo to the users folder, right click on your administrator account and hit "Set password". Hope this helps!

Forgot my password. need new password

There are many Windows password reset tools, but I haven't personally tested them. Windows Password Rescuer 3.0 is a widely spread edition on internet...
It supports running with CD/DVD/USB, remove the lost or forgotten password and then log in to your computer without any password. As long as you have another PC to install it and burn it to CD/DVD or USB Drive. You also can use Windows Password Rescuer to add a new user with administrator privilege to your Windows when you can not find target user. With this New user account you can and logon your locked computer directly to copy important data from the locked computer if you want to reinstall your Windows system at last.
