Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Kingston DataTraveler 1GB flash drive is asking me if I want to format it, but i don't want to do that because I have important data on it. I want to know how I can retrieve my data? I don't know if the partition got deleted or what else it could be and how to resolve it without losing my data on it! The computer is saying the device is working properly.

If so move the switch to the read/write position.

I cannot use my printer right now, and I have a composition assignement stored in a file on my Dell and want to transfer onto my flashdrive to take and print out at school with their printer. Please give...

Double click the file you want to move. When the progam opens the document, Choose"Save As" from the File Menu. When the dialog box opens, navigate to you flash drive. Something like (E):Kingston the choose "Save" Now a copy of your file will be on your Kingston Flash drive.
Double check by opening the flash drive and look for the file.

I have a 8GB dataTraveler flash drive. For some reason my computer only can see it as a 6GB. I am using xp sp3. I tried to format but still it didnt help...Please help.

you would have to check with kingston.com to see for sure but due to system files etc you may not get a full 8 gb. check to see if it has hidden files on it.

Windows asking me to format my flash drive

Just format your flash drive! Before you start formatting your flash drive, transfer all data from your flash drive 'cause when you format your flash drive, it will erase all the data. After you have formatted the flash drive, then you can transfer back the data to your flash drive.

I keep getting the error directory or file cannot be created when I try to save anything to my usb kingston datatraveler 2 gb hard drive

Do you have any data on the drive right now? the file system on the drive might be messed up... if you have no data, i suggest you perform a format. if not try to copy the data over to your hard drive then format it.
