I dont know how to install the firmware for my mp4 i really need help

Hello,

Do you have the CD for the SMPK8858 ?

Then put the CD into the CD drive or DVD drive of your computer and explore the CD, for the firmware update look under:
\Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0\setup.exe
1. explore or double click folder Firmware Upgrade tool
2. explore or double click folder ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0
3. run or double click file setup.exe: this will start the installation of the update software on your computer.

After the installation of the setup.exe file, run the firmware update program to start the update for your player.

Most Sylvania players will have a CD provided. When you don't have it, download the driver (a zip file) from Curtis:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER.ZIP
After the download unzip the file with WinZip or WinRar:
now look for the firmware installation program under
SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0 \ setup.exe
Double click the setup.exe, the same procedure as when using the CD.

There is also a manual for SPMK8858 (a pdf file) online:

Oh dear this hard drive is not working

To fix, you will need the following 2 links and Windows Media Player 10 (WMP 11 is not compatible with the VM-500)

http://a.b.vcdz.free.fr/vcdz/Virgin_Player_5gb_VM-500_setup.rar
http://a.b.vcdz.free.fr/vcdz/PP5020.MI4

The first link is a zip file2_bing.gif that contains the setup file for the VM-500 along with the user guide that explains how to resolve the "Oh dear! this player is a piece of junk" (okay, so I ad libbed). The 2nd link is for a critical file missing from the set up. The solution is basically 3 steps:
1) Plug in your VM-500 into your PC and right click to select "Properties" and then select "Format" to clear everything out of the device to start from scratch.
2) After downliading the zip file from the "setup" link above, unzip and run the setup.exe program on your PC. It will detect the VM-500, install the firmware and the system folder and subfolders.
3) Using the 2nd link above, download the file PP5050.mi4 to your PC and then copy it to the system folder (not the subfolders) in your VM-500.
That's it! Your VM-500 should be all fixed and should bring up the "device tour" tutorial. -Hank

When I removed all my music from my coby mp3 player (MP705-4G) I went back on my coby then there were still some music on it, and i'm not sure what to do. Is there a solution?

Try this solution:

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Validate windows

Pretty easy.
Do you have winzip?
If not download this software.
now right click on the wmp11 setup and choose winzip>extract to..>choose a directory and
click ok/extract.
Now go to that directory and you get many setups there.Run each one except the one that shows the validation message.Don't reboot your system until you have installed all the setups. If in case that happens then run the remaining setups after the reboot.Once all the setups are installed reboot your  computer.wmp11 is now installed.Enjoy!

p.s.:If any of the setup doesn't run, leave it.

The RCA Easy Rip Installer has detected that a critiical file is missing : Setup.XML

If you are not prompted to install easyRip, you can find the installer on the device itself or download it at the URL listed below.

If you are getting the message that a critical file is missing, download the latest installer at:

http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/voxrightnow.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2253

Please clarify about the player stuck initializing. What model of player is it? Is the device itself stuck initializing or is a firmware update for your device (would be on your PC) stuck initializing?

Rca 2763 fm corruppted file

There a few ways to handle a corrupted file. You can manually delete all the songs, and inspect the id3 tags to see if you can isolate the corrupt file (long and tedious approach). You can upgrade the firmware on the player, which will result in all songs being deleted, and missing files being revised/added in some cases (I would recommend this approach, but it is not a guaranteed fix). You could also format the player, which will delete all songs and resolve the corruption at least temporarily (but this carries a risk - you may end up deleting critical files, which may or may not be able to re-added later). The choice is yours - good luck!

Critical setup file missing

The setup files are typically on your computer; what operating system are you using? If you are using windows 98 you will need the cd-rom with the drivers. If you are running windows xp you probably have a problem with spyware or a virus; could be some corrupt files as well.
