Did you install a DVD player disc that came with the unit? DVD's require a special mpg4 format decoder in order to understand the DVD disc. If you just connected the device it will read data DVD's Music DVD's and regular CD's. But, to play Movie DVD's you need to install the player program, which in turn installs the proper mpg4 codec. If it did not come with a player you can download mpg4 codecs from the internet in a package called "codec pack" Hope that helps you to watch your Latest Releases! Cheers.

Not really unless you wish to download additional information like Real Player or Power DVD which still must be set to use NTSF which is how all equipment in the USA communicate with each other and should selected when burning DVDs to be used on your TV. just select this:NTFS, or select that you want to save the DVD as this format. try not to do anything or open other program while its dvd shrinking or burning....bcoz dvd shrinking and burning occupies lot of memory cache and cpu usage.

it's in the settings between your acer and your dvd...check those for compatibility.

Make sure you are not using DVD+R dics - the player won't play these. It is OK with DVD-R.

Toshiba does not have a download of DVD software.

Try VLC player it plays DVDs fine and its free!
