Question about Toshiba PDR-M700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Toshiba PDR-M700 When I power up the camera, the lens will not come out and sometimes will come out all the way to maximum zoom. When I power off with the lens out, it clicks as if something is stripped or loose. After shut down, I can push the lens back in. Once in a while the camera will work but eventually the "Lens Error" message comes up. This was a good expensive camera when I bought it but taking it in for service would probably cost more than the price of a new camera today. Can you suggest if there may be a way that I could repair this myself.

It sounds as though the drive gear is slipping... If you give up on trying to repair your camera I may want to purchase it for parts (my sister-in-law broke my LCD display)

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I press the shutter button a red light flashes in the viewfinder

Your focus or lighting is too low for the picture. Add more light, and hold the button down half way to self adjust to see if it goes away. Change the battery to a lithium battery, which helps the digital cameras work their best.
Let me know if this helps.

Camera lens wont close

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

SD card size

You'd better find some local dealer and try. Newer SD cards use the new SDHC profile which is not supported by the camera. 1G and smaller cards should have no problem but even this largely depends on toshiba's programming ability. 4G and above probably would not work.

Poor exposure when using the flash

I read in another Toshiba forum where some users were putting a small piece of electriacal (black) tape over the flash sensor, and their indoor photos with flash turned out spectacular, since it allows the camera to apply more light . Actually fools the camera but it works. You might want to experiment with it..
