How to repair a Kirby Tradition (3CB) vacuum cleaner brushroll belt
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The belt install on a Kirby is to raise the height adjustment to the highest level and then dial the belt off counter clockwise so it is loose and not on the fan pulley, release the top lever on the bell housing, then remove the bottom plate and unhook the brushroll on one side, slide the old belt off and then slide the new one on, replace the brushroll with the screws facing the carpet and re-hook the bottom plate on the Kirby. Then take the bell housing and hook that back on to the Kirby and lock it down. Then dial the belt on clockwise all the way and the belt should be on the fan pulley. The belt should be ready to go, plug in your Kirby and then do the step down on the vacuum height adjustment until the tone changes, then try to see id it picks up, if not go one more height adjustment and that should be the correct setting.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Replace the roller on my Kirby Vacuum Generation 3
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. In order to replace the brushroll on the Kirby G3 you need to dial off the belt and then release the lever to remove the bell housing, then there are 2 levers that you need to open then you can get @ the brushroll --- take out the brushroll and replace the brushroll and a new belt – make sure you change the belt every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. Make sure when you put the new belt in the housing that the screw heads are facing down – then you can replace the bottom plate, dial the belt on to the belt pulley and replace the bell housing. If you need further help please refer to a local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I have a model 560 Kirby how do I put the belt on

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. the Kirby you have is an older Kirby with a removable head or you call it a bell housing so you need to dial off the belt counter clockwise and the release the front lever on the bell housing, and then release the bottom plate and remove one end of the brushroll and then slide the belt off of the brushroll. B4 you put the new belt on the Kirby check to see if the brushroll spins freely, also to see if the brushroll is free from the thread and hair buildup, if that is free – then slide the new belt onto the brushroll and the re-insert the brushroll with the screw head on each side facing the carpet and lock down the bottom plate, then use the Kirby spoon/ hook to dial the belt on to the fan pulley and dial the spoon/hook clockwise until the belt is on the fan pulley and the place the bell housing on the Kirby and then lock down the lever so that it is hooked up and ready to go, plug it in and turn it on. I can't figure out how to get the belt engaged on my Kirby Heritage 84. There are very simple instructions on the front assembly; however, the belt doesn't engage with the rotor, and the beater bar does not spin. When I have the front twisting section on the "Belt On" setting, it seems as though it actually disengages the belt. I see no faults in any of the mechanical parts, but just can't get the belt to go on the rotor.
(I purchased this machine @ a garage sale on Saturday. It's in perfect condition.)
My vacuum cleaner is a Kirby 84 Legend.
Help! Jennifer

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. You can always check your owner’s manual but the Kirby has a dial on the front of the machine and you needs to dial the belt off of the fan pulley counter clock wise and to check to see if the Kirby bell housing will release @ the top so that you can remove the bell housing. If not then remove the bottom plate and take out the brushroll on one side and then slide the belt off of the brushroll. Then you can slide the new belt onto the brushroll to the center and then re-insert the Kirby brushroll with the screw heads facing downward then you can replace the bottom plate – then use the Kirby spoon or hook to dial the belt onto the fan pulley clock wise. Once that is done then plug in the Kirby and try to vacuum to see if the Kirby is picking up properly, if not repeat the process. If you have a question, feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I need to replace the belt on my Kirby g6 2000 how do I do it

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Kirby has a belt hook on the inside of the bell housing and 1st you need to release the old belt by turning the dial in front of the bell housing counter clock wise to get the old belt off. Some Kirby vacuums the entire bell housing comes off and makes it fairly simple but the process and the format to change the belt is the same. The brushroll has screws on each end and the screw heads need to be facing down on each side, so remove of drop down one side of the brush and slide the belt onto the middle of the brushroll then re-insert the brushroll, screws head facing down, then use the Kirby dial to hook the belt and then dial the belt onto the Kirby fan pulley and then you should be done. Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have never come across the entire belt hook assm has come completely apart, but I have seem other people put the assm back together, but I would bring it to a local Kirby vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and if for some reason they cannot repair the Kirby head and hook assm they can order you a compete head totally repaired, but that would be choice #2 or feel free to contact your local Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Dealer to give you a breakdown on how to put it back together again. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do you replace the belt on the Kirby, Model No D50, Serial No. A442867

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
This is an older Kirby vacuum and the front brushroll section of the vacuum and the front brushroll section will come off, 1st you have to remove the front cover (the Kirby Emblem) and under that there is a Kirby spoon or hook and you need to dial off the belt off the belt shaft, once that has been done remove the bottom plate and un-install the Kirby brushroll, check to see if the brushroll spins freely, if it does go onto the next step, if not clean off the hair and thread from either end and then re-check the brushroll, if it still binds up then replace the brushroll and belt with Genuine Kirby belt and brush. Then use the dial to place the belt onto the Kirby spoon / hook. Once the belt is on the hook, install the bottom planter and place then housing of the Kirby on the vacuum and use the lever on the top to secure the fan housing dial the belt onto the pulley and you should be good to go.

You would have to find someone who sells and services Kirby, you may find it online. But this an older vacuum and doubt that you will find a manual for it.
