Try just completely unplugging it from its power source when this happens. If it keeps happening, there might be something completely broken in your PS3 that you can return it and get it serviced by Sony for. Check the warranty information for details.

Playstation 3 not starting up?

Are you plagued by the problem of your Playstation 3 not booting up properly?

Got a screen with just a background and no icons?

Seeing a wavy line and nothing else?

This is the tip for you!

This is a problem with the Playstation 3 software becoming corrupt. It is very easy to fix if you follow my simple steps.

Please note, this method will erase your hard drive so any save games you had will be lost. All your online trophies will be preserved.

Step 1.

Turn your Playstation 3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2.

Press and hold the power button. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off back into standby mode (red light on). You must now release the power button.

Step 3.

Press and hold the power again. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 quick beeps release the power button.

Step 4.

Your Playstation 3 will now start up with a screen asking you to connect a controller via USB. Connect your controller and then press the PS button.

Step 5.

A menu will now be displayed on screen. Select option 5 "Restore PS3 System". This will then ask you to confirm that you wish to go ahead with the system restore. Accept whatever the Playstation 3 says.

The Playstation 3 will now go through the system restore process and re-install the system software back to out of the box status. You will have to set your user name, date and time and network settings again.

Once you have completed the above, the Playstation 3 will restart and spring back to life again!

I hope this helps all of those out there who are suffering this problem.

Where can i find mi ip address

  1. Turn on your PlayStation 3 console by pressing the black power button on the right side of the device. Turn on a wireless controller by pressing the small PS button located at the center of the controller. Wait for your console to power up and load.
  2. Step 2 Select an existing user profile or create a new profile to log in to your console. Access the "Settings" menu, which is the next option after "Users," by highlighting the menu with your controller. Scroll down through the "Settings" menu to locate the "System Settings" screen, which is about halfway down the menu. Press the controller's "X" button to open the screen.
  3. Step 3 Locate the "System Information" menu by scrolling through the list. The "System Information" option is the second-to-last menu item. Select this item by pressing "X." The PlayStation 3's IP address will be the second item

Will not play games or dvds- menu screen will not come up the screen just shows the red wavy lines not the blue like it is suppose to

1- Disconnect the PS3 from the internet.
2- Turn the standby switch off so the red light turns off too, then you turn the system back on
3- Then place your finger on the power button for a total of 4 beeps to access the recovery menu. It might not work on the first attempt but it will on the second.
4- The display will instruct you to connect your controller to the PS3 and press the enter button. A list of menus will appear on your display. The choices are as follows: Restart System, Restore Default Settings, Restore File System, Rebuild data base, Restore PS3
5- Select Restore Default Settings.

Red, Green convergence lines are wavy

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

I turn my ps3 on and the lighjt stays red when i hit the on button it turns green and starts to load but stops and all i see is wavy lines across screen what is the problem?

If the wavy line is like static I no exactly what you mean My old Laptop did that to me but that's because my niece dropped it so you might want to think back if you have ever dropped it if not then you might need to get a new hard drive for it because PS3's have a tendency to Screw up because mine wont play any games it just doesn't even try to read the disc but you might have left the system on too long and fried it as well. so i suggest you either have a professional look at it or replace the hard drive and i doubt you want to buy a new system so i hoped i helped you out ttyl BYE.

The ps3 wont play any games or load up anything else either. It goes to a pink screen with a wavy line in the middle and thats it. Also the controlers wont connect to the system, if you turn them on they...

But you are unable to play your discs because the Blu-Ray Lens that enables the PS3 to read Blu-Ray movies or games has gone bad.

There is nothing you can do about it. You need to take it to an authorized Sony Service Center and get the lens replaced.

PS3 Freezes On The Wavy Lines

I had the same problem.

Whilst the machine is turned on, plug in the usb to the wireless controller and the PS3 should detect it and ask you to press the ps button (center of controller). Do this and you should get a menu, select RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS, and you will have to input time, date etc but it does get machine working again - previous data is lost and you may need to keep trying as machine took several attempts to detect wireless controller - just persevere!!! I tried pressing buttons etc, switching off but nothing else worked for me ... Hope this helps
