On Internet Explorer , go to the File Menu and select Open, then Browse. In the Browse dialog box, set Files of Type to the file you want to open (GIF, JPEG, etc.) and navigate the Look in
box to the folder where the file is located. Double-click the filename
and it should display in your browser. You may get a message saying that
a program could not be found. If you do, just click OK, and the image
will display in your browser window.

Goto the main website and they have it to where you can trouble shoot from there website. And also download files you don't have that you need for whatever program you have.
Sounds like the file allocation table on the card got screwed up. Try Googling Compact Flash Data Recovery. I know you're not using compact flash cards but the techniques for data recovery are pretty much the same regardless of the media. If and when you're able to recover what you can, I wouldn't use that card anymore myself. Good luck!
