I have a singer 2732 and have misplaced the manual. I'm trying to wind thread on a new bobbin but I must have forgot some part of the process. Can anyone offer instructions? Thanks!

Hi, I hope this helps. It's kind of hard without pictures, but I'll do my best:
1)With the spool of thread affixed in it's normal spot, take the thread and wind it through that weird hooky thing (like normal) at the 'back' of the machine.
2)Then bring the thread towards the front of the machine and around the metal 'button' on the top of the machine. Do not loop around this, merely guide the thread on on the side closest to you, towards the right hand side of the machine.
3)Thread your bobbin.
4)Put the bobbin on the metal arm and push to the right (gently).
5)Push the 'button' in the hand wheel in so one end of it will pop out (this will stop the needle from going up & down while you're winding the bobbin)
6)Start pressing the foot pedal slowly and things should start to work.

Trying to wind the bobbin on my Pfaff hobby 1132. The thread keeps coming off the bobbin thread guide. The bobbin winds, but the thread is loose and uneven. I've pushed the bobbin holder to the right and...

Check to make sure the thread path from the spool to the bobbin is correct. The thread should make a loop around a little post that is actually a tensioner that helps the thread wind smoothly onto the bobbin. If something is wrong with that tensioner or the thread is not following the correct thread path, it could cause the thread to not wind smoothly. It appears that your machine has two locations where the spool can be placed to wind the bobbin. You might try using the other option, if one doesn't seem to be working.

Also, you might try slowing the machine down during the thread winding process. It it goes too fast the spool begins bouncing and pulls the thread akilter. Also, some threads will stretch if the winding is too fast causing the thread to "shrink" when sewing your garment and creating puckers.

FWIW, I found that a "SideWinder" stand-alone bobbin winder is a handy gadget. It is available for ~$30 from JoAnn's Fabrics, Amazon, etc and is battery or electric compatible. It saves wear and tear on a machine and can wind multiple bobbins one right after another. Just be sure to verify that your bobbins will work on the SideWinder as some Singer bobbins will not.

I HAVE A SINGER SEWING MACHINE MODEL 2732 AND NEED TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE BOBBIN COME UP. I AM LOOKING FOR THE MANUAL FOR THIS MODEL. PLEASE HELP.

When threading your needle make sure you pull enough thread through...a good 4 inches will do..hold the end of the thread and turn your hand wheel by hand until needle comes back up...you should have a loop around your upper thread ...pull this loop out towards you..you should now have two threads..cut threads till about 2 inches and make sure you position threads through the center of your sewing foot and towards the back of your machine. Good Luck

Using Singer 7470 for the first time, and my bobbin thread is bunching terribly. There is a loud sound from the bobbin chamber, as if the mechanism is bouncing around??? How can I fix this bobbin issue?...

1. Take bobbin out and re-insert and thread.
If that dosen't work, try:
2. Take bobbin out and bobbin case, clean area and re-insert bobbin case and bobbin.
If that dosen't work, try:
3. Re-thread the top thread that goes to the needle. (Sometimes the thread dosen't hook to the "Thread take-up"(page 6 on manual). It pulls the bobbin thread and the bobbing becomes loose inside the bobbin case.
If that dosen't work, try:
4. Wind a new bobbin (Sometimes a bobbin might wind thread to lose) Do not wind thread to the edge of bobbin.
If that dosen't work, you should take it in to be serviced...Somenthing might become loose that only a technitian can correct.
Also check manual for troubleshooting.
Good luck.....

Singer 7444 trouble winding bobbin

It sounds like you don't have any tension on the thread when winding the bobbin. Make sure that you are running the thread through the tension disc on the top of the machine before going to the bobbin winder.

Problems with Singer 2732

"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.

Singer 2732

You can go here, search 2732, and purchase an instruction manual for your machine, if you have misplaced the one that came with it. It looks like they're like $15. https://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

Also, Singer has just installed new Q&A features on their website. You can go here: http://new.singerco.com/products and look for your particular model. At the bottom of the product page, you can post Questions for singer experts and other community members to answer!

Good luck!
