I am looking in the back of the TV, but don't see these Fuses... Could they be in the front? Also, it's really dusty should I vacuum, or is there a better way.
    Thanks
    I appreciate the help.

F9A04, 05 are not shorted, however F9AO2 and 03 are shorted.

  • dgerade Jul 31, 2008

Is there anyway to test these? Also, I assume I'll have to remove the PCboard to the repairs, do you know of any diagrams which show how to remove the boards, the front end of it (If there are any screws in the front) would be difficult to get to? Any hints?

  • dgerade Aug 06, 2008

Hello, Disregard the last question... I was talking to two people one asking me for shorted fuses, the other asking for open fuses I was a bit confused.

After looking at the schematics I removed the board... I can see that F9A04 is open but I'm reading 1.89M ohms. F9A05 is open.

You said it could be the convergence IC's? Anything else to check before trying to get these parts? Thanks

  • dgerade Aug 06, 2008

So there are two convergence IC's correct? If so, do I need to replace both? Also, do you know where I could get the parts?

  • dgerade Sep 05, 2008

Hi, I ifnally got the parts and replaced the IC's... Checked the fuses out of the circuit and they were indeed open so I replaced those as well.

I connected everything back up and hit the power, it shut off again. this time the code gives me a 1, 2... Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • dgerade Sep 05, 2008

Ok, went back upstairs and tried again after looking at the codes in the manual. the code now is 22 again. DOH! So, any other ideas?

    Thanks

I took the board back out and checked the soldering, no shorts... I measured between the pins to confirm this. The code came back as a 12, which is no fault, but this is how it was the last time I tried it and I think trying to turn it on a few times blew the fuses. I just don't want to keep turning it on if it's going to blow the fuses again. Is there anything else you can think of that it may be?

Hi, after lookin in the service manual I have a question. I tested th see if the fuses were shorted, however... I'm not completely sure how these fuses work, since most fuses are shorted to begin with... Are they resistive type fuses of some type? Just looking for insight. Thanks

22 is short protect usually its the convergence Ics in that model that can short out. check fuses F9A04 and F9A05 if they are open its most likely the convergence ICs that need repslacing. If you need further assistance, please reply to this same post.

They are not regular fuses. they are pico fuses which look like resistors but dont have color bands. They will me marked on the board with the F9a number

There are two possible causes for those two fuses to blow. First would be the Flyback is bad next likeliest is the power transformer T9A50

If F9A04 and F9A05 are open you need to replace both of those fuses and the convergence Ic as thats whats giving you the 22 error code. The fuses have to be checked out of circuit or you will get a reading on F9A04 just from the surrounding circuit.

Yes you have two STK392-570 ICs they both need to be changed the picos are 5 amp picos fuses. You can get replacement ICs and pico fuses at the following link with free shipping and instalation instructions. Here is the link.

check the solder connections on the IC, as if the two fuses were open the only thing that could have blown them origionally is the IC so if the code is still 22 the ics pins may be bridged with solder or the fuses may not be soldered sufficiently
