I have a new Dell computer. I have a Lexmark 3500 printer that I have been using on an older Dell. I am trying to connect my printer to my computer and only get an error "Not connected-No connections available". The printer is installed on my new Dell, the USB cable is attached, they don't want to talk to each other. Help!

I purchased a new Dell 560 computer. It won't accept my older Lexmark Z23 printer disk. What can I do?

Perhaps your new computer is not running the same operating system that your Lexmark driver disk was written for! Try going on the Lexmark web site and searching for a driver compatible with your new operating system.

Im trying to connect a dell v305 printer to a new mac

NO Dell do NOT support Macs on there printers - BUT most of Dells printers are re-branded Lexmark engines - so if you can find the equivalent lexmark - you may find a driver lexmark makes all of dells printers the v305 or v305w is a lexmark model X4650. the Mac driver is here http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&productCode=LEXMARK_X4650&actp=PRODUCT&id=DR9768&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US&locale=en

Cannot scan anything on my lexmark 4550

There is a patch that you can download and run to resolve this issue.
Step 1:
Download the following patch: http://swdownloads.lexmark.com/Patches/3500-4500/3500-4500.exe

  1. To start the process, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

  2. Reboot the PC.

  3. Unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer.

  4. Plug it back in after 30 seconds.

  5. Try to scan again.
If the problem still exists, follow Step 2 below.

Step 2:
Download the following patch: http://swdownloads.lexmark.com/Patches/3500-4500/3500-4500wifiethernetpatch.exe

  1. Double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

  2. Reboot the PC.

  3. Unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer.

  4. Plug it back in after 30 seconds.

  5. Try to scan again.

If the problem is still the same

1.Get the printer ip address of the printer (ex: 192.168.1.10)
-press settings on the printer panel.. go to network setup.. View TCP / IP, open a browser (IE or mozilla) and type in the printer ip address
-you will see the printer page and then go to configuration.. choose scan to network host
-delete all the computer name listed

2. Go to start, all program.. choose Lexmark 3500-4500 series and choose Lexmark Solution Center
-go to Advanced, click on networking and then click on Change PC name or PIN
--rename the PC name and then click on Ok

3. Turn off the printer, unplug it for 10 secs

4. Try to scan, it should work

if it's still the same you need to uninstall the printer driver and download the updated driver in Lexmark.com

-reinstall it using the downloaded driver

Lexmark 3500-4500, enable bidirection printer

Bi-directional operation is a facility of the BIOS port you might use. it usually refers to a parallel port which can be set in the bios as uni directional or bidirectional so in the bios under PERIPHERAL DEVICES you would set to bi-directional.. so it is not something you can set in the printer settings. when it connects to the port the printer tests to see if it can use bidirectional transfers or not. If it can't it just means its a bit less efficient so will take long to transfer data. A similar error message might be issued for a network/wifi connection if a FIREWALL prevented communications. Or if you had used an OLD driver meant for a different older parallel printer. your printer is too new and should be wifi connected. You may have used a wifi ad-hoc pc-printer direct connection which could be causing the issue. preferred method is always printer-router-pc non ad-hoc using tcp/ip ports. so check your firewall settings http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=SO3908&locale=en&userlocale=EN_US

Printer

If you're using Vista, you will need to download the Vista compatible driver. Follow the link bellow, download and run this driver. Install the driver with the printer unplugged from the laptop. Reboot the laptop after the install, and plug in the printer. This should get it set up. If not let me know and I'll see what I can find on this matter.

Go into Printers and right click on your printer. Make sure "Use Printer Offline" does not have a check mark next to it.

Problem communicating with the printer

check and ensure the driver is for that model, and that you have used the suppllied software disk to do all installs. essentially, delete the hardware from your unit, do an add/reomvoe software from the control panel...completely reinstall the unit.
check the device also.
