The problem, is there are 2-3 blown capacitors on your power board. u can replace the capacitors if you r tech-savy, or simply google the boards numeric id stamp for a replacement.

Actually, Joel, my Wife's computer suffered the same problem this weekend. Being the kind of guy I am, I chose to pull it apart and see what makes this thing tick. Hers is experiencing the same symptoms as yours. Now... this is NOT my area of expertise, but I feel confident that the following will fix the problem.

No, there is no fuse on the inside.

What I am going to do (this evening) is order 2 parts for her 1905FP; 1.)Power/Inverter board. part # is 6832151100-02 (<---- I believe this to be the source of the problem) for $49.99, and 2.) Logic to LCD cord for $7.99. I don't think my ribbon cable is messed up, but for 8 bucks? I'll order it anyway just to be sure.

So, there ya go. Power board should fix your problem, but you may want to do what I am doing and order the logic cable along with it. You can get those parts from here.

Sorry for the delayed response. I don't get an email notification of comments, so I was unaware that Amos and Sancho had the same problem.

The answer is yes, the power inverter board was the problem. I know this because I suspected it as the problem, therefore replaced it first. Plugged in the monitor and all was right in the world. So I ended up with an $8 ribbon cable... it could just as easily been the problem. What I did was go ahead and install it anyway, after all the old one had like 2 years of use on it, since I had it anyway, why not use a brand new one? Right?

So I highly recommend that if this problem happens to you, order BOTH the inverter AND the cable.

Again, sorry for the delay guys... I hope you got it fixed.

It sound like a short circuit. I had this problem with 1907FP model. It had an USB port on the monitor which got damaged and it was shortening to the groung. In your case it might be a bad internal power supply board.

You may have bad caps (leaking/bulging tops) in the power supply or blown fuse. This is what the board looks like.

One of my computers lost power this morning due to blown fuse. When I turned everything back on the monitor screen has power and no screen.. it is all black

If the power light is on, but the screen never appears to light up, either the backlight or the power inverter have failed.

Dell 1905fp No Display ( No Picture) on screen but Power Indicate light stays on green. Or Screen Flickering.

You have either power supply or inverter circuits failure, worst case will be lamps.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Dell monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

How do you replace a power supply unit in a 1905fp Dell Moniter?

Here is a link to a full repair guide that shows how to open the unit remove the power supply and what components to replace to repair the board. Repairing the board is much cheaper than getting a new board. Below is also a picture of the board with the problem capacitors circled in yellow, these parts are the most common problem with the board.

My dell 1905FP power button flashes green and will not turn off, the screen is black.

Hello,

This is a common indication of a failure in the power supply. There are parts called capacitors that are used in the filter section of the power supply, when they go out the power supply can't properly turn on so you get no picture and a flashing power light. Here is a picture of the power supply board with the problem filter capacitors circled in yellow and below the picture in a link to a repair guide with details dis-assemble and repair instruction along with parts list for the Dell 1905FP and 1907FP models.

The front bezel snaps off. Power supply access requires dissassembly of screen from electronics cage.
