Microsoft outlook server errors 0x80040900 and 0x800ccc0f will only download same 2 emails when there are 9 to receive. Also server times out have checked that box for keeping email on server is not ticked and that pop3 is 110 and smtp is 25 also I delete these emails and empty the deleted items folder. What can i do?

The above problems were corrected by going to webmail.com and typing in the email address that was malfunctioning. The inbox was displayed as a preview pane and I checked the boxes of the email that was clogging the system deleted them and exited. I then signed on to my email address and downloaded my remaining messages without any problems. Hope this helps others.

If you are receiving an error when sending email using Outlook:

"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server Response: '550 not local host, not a gateway', Port: 25, Secure (SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79"


Open your Outlook settings (Tools > Accounts)
Go to View/Change email account for the email account you are having problems with.
Check that the SMTP Server is set to yourdomain.com
Go into the "More settings", "Outgoing Server" tab and make sure that the option "My server requires authentication" for the Outgoing server is checked ON.


Save and close all windows.

Try again.

If the problem continues then the problem is that your Internet Service Provider is blocking the mail server. ISPs do this to prevent spam on their network. When this happens you will need to use the mail server that they provide you instead of your own. The mail server is generally smtp.yourISPname.com, however, it could be different so please contact your ISP to get the details.

If you do not want to use your ISPs server for SMTP, and the ISP is blocking port 25, you can switch the port to 587 for your outgoing mail and use mail.yourdomain,com for the SMTP server name.

Unable to use Outlook Express as my main default email..all my emails addressed to geoffrey@scholes1129.fsnet.co.uk are now accessed via Orange web mail.whereas previously all my emails came by Outlook...

Can't use either Microsoft Live Mail or Lookout Express v6 with Belkin Router. Can't send or receive email Can you tell me what the email setup is for either one? Both email programs probably use the same...


Ask COMCAST for the names of their POP-server and of their MAIL-server, and configure Outlook Express to use those names.

Microsoft Live Mail is "web-based" -- all you need to do is to web-surf to their web-site, login, and click "send/receive" or click "compose" and later "send".

(Outlook Express) Email is not configured to relay mail to address
Try this settings:

Outlook Express
  1. Click Tools then Accounts
  2. Click Mail
  3. Click Properties
  4. Click Servers
  5. In the Account Name field, it should be the first part of your email address (probably it's like this already).
  6. Put a checkmark by My Server Requires Authentication at the bottom of the page.
  7. Click Settings
  8. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  9. Click Apply
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Close
This should fix the Outlook Express to send email, close Outlook Express and re-open it to start sending mail.

Microsoft Outlook
  1. Click Tools then Email Accounts (Accounts and Services on older versions of Outlook)
  2. Click View and Change and Click Next (skip if it opens up to the account screen)
  3. Click Change or Properties of your Email Account
  4. Click More Settings
  5. Click Outgoing Server
  6. Check My Server Uses Authentication
  7. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  8. Click OK
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Finish

This should fix the Outlook to send email. Close Outlook and re-open it to start sending mail.

Error 0x800CCC0D
Problem: When you try to send or receive email, you get an error message. It
says the error number is 0x800ccc0D.

Solution: This error is basically saying that your computer cannot connect
to the mail server. The most common and obvious cause of this is that you
are not connected to the internet at all. To test whether this is the case,
try opening a news web page like news.com or doing a Google search (just
opening your homepage is not a good enough test, because it may be saved, or
"cached", on your computer's hard drive). If this test fails, then the
problem is not with e-mail specifically, but rather with the internet
connection. For users on dial-up, you need to dial in first, and then you
should be able to check your email. If Windows is indicating that you are
already connected, try disconnecting and then dial in again. If that fails,
try restarting the computer and then connecting again. If that fails, you
may have spyware or your modem may have gone bad.

If, on the other hand, you are able to pull up web pages, yet still get
error 0x800CCC0D, you should check to make sure the mail servers are typed
in correctly. To check this in Outlook Express, open the Tools menu, select
Accounts, click on the Mail tab, click on the Properties button, then click
on the Servers tab. Or, if you use a different email program, follow the
equivalent procedure for that program. The incoming mail server should be
pop3.vcn.com unless your email address doesn't end with @vcn.com, in which
case put in whatever your address ends with instead of vcn.com (for example,
if your address is person@wavecom.net, enter in pop3.wavecom.net ). The
outgoing mail server should be smtp.vcn.com or substitute whatever your
email address ends with for vcn.com.

Make sure to check the mail servers for all your mail accounts if you have
multiple email addresses.

If you still get error 0x800CCC0D, and definitely can pull up web pages
(that is, the rest of the internet is working fine, only email is having a
problem):

* Restart your computer. This is simple, so you might as well try.
* Try disabling e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. To do this
in Norton, double-click on the yellow picture for Norton down at the bottom
of your screen by your clock to open Norton. Then click the Options button
at the top of the window (if a drop-down menu appears, choose anti-virus),
then click the word Email on the menu on the left side. Uncheck both Scan
Incoming and Scan Outgoing. Click OK, then close Norton. Try checking your
messages again.
* Disable your firewall. It could be blocking Outlook Express, or
whatever your email program is, from accessing the internet. McAfee firewall
will usually not turn off even when you tell it to, so you'll have to go
into the firewall settings and delete your e-mail program from the blocked
list, or just uninstall McAfee firewall entirely using the Add/Remove
Programs control panel.
* Make sure you recieve replies when you ping the mail server. If you
cannot, something strange is going on.
* Try checking email using a different mail program such as Thunderbird,
or through webmail on our web site, and see if that works.



Other Cases

You may be able to get mail when you first open Outlook Express, but then
get error 0x800CCC0D from then on. To solve this, go to the Tools Menu >
Options > Connection tab, and uncheck "Hang up after sending and receiving".

Your email works fine, but error 0x800CCC0D keeps constantly popping up over
and over. In Microsoft Outlook, Tools > Options > Mail Setup tab > Send and
Receive, and uncheck "Schedule an automatic send/receive every 5 minutes"
(older versions of Outlook will have a similar option under the Mail
Delivery tab). In Outlook Express, go to Tools > Options, and uncheck "check
for messages every ... minutes".

I can receive emails, but not send them. The error message says that my server does not recognize my email account. What can I do to be able to send emails since I am receiving them? John


Either your email service has changed their outgoing server or they are having issues. Contact your email provided to ensure you have the correct smtp server listed in your email program..

You are receiving this error because of one of two reasons:
1) Your email account is not set up properly. Click on Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, then Accounts. You will see a window with columns stating Account-Type-Connection. If an account is set up then click on it then click on Properties. Click server tab and you will see the SMTP server block and the POP3 server block. Both of these fields will read as follows: pop.XXXXX.net and smtp.XXXXX.net. Your Internet Service Providers name will be in the XXXX. If these are not set up properly then you cannot connect to send email. If they are filled out correctly then you need to call your Internet Service Provider and inform them of your situation. Their server is not working properly.

Outlook 2007 incoming emails keep coming from the server multiple times


If your getting duplicate emails from the same server, either #1 you've configured multiple email accounts for the same email address or #2 see below.
You will find these setting under TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ MAIL SETUP/ Click Email Accounts, under the Email tab, click "change". This will list all accounts. delete any duplicates for the same email address.
#2 If there are no duplicates in Outlook its possible you've told your email server to forward your email to you.
What Outlook does is retrieve this mail from the server, so doing both would result in duplicates as well

Please follow this link in which there are details of why you are not able to send/receive emails or why you are receiving errors.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514 this is for outlook/outlook express.

The socket 11004 error also means Valid name, no data record of requested type. The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for.
hence try these steps,I would request you to reconfigure your Account settings for the email server.This should resolve your issue.

You are with lrger e-mails in your server, blocking the download of all e-mails by Outlook. Every time you try to receive all again, the same comes, even if you have deleted them, you just do this in your computer!
The solution is enter in yours e-mail server by the webmail, delete all the big e-mails that there are there, then go out, and try to receive the ones that are still there, by outlook.
